A crowd of more than 1,000
motorcycle enthusiasts was on hand Wednesday night at a movie theatre
in Newport Beach, Calif. for a reunion of racers and the producers
of the famed motorcycle movie On Any Sunday. Created by Larry Langley
of Saddlemen /Travelcade, the event was a fundraiser for the Pediatric
Brain Tumor Foundation.
The movie’s creator/producer
/editor Bruce Brown was on hand, along with numerous people that worked
on, and produced the film back in 1970. Also on hand were numerous
motorcyclists that appeared in the film including Mert Lawwill, Malcolm
Smith, Don Castro, Don Emde, Gene Romero, Eddie Mulder, Jim Odom, Jim
Rice, Gary Nixon, Keith Mashburn, Skip Van Leeuwen, David Aldana, Jody
Nicholas , John Hateley and others.
Following the introductions
and memorabilia auctions, the highlight of the night was the viewing
of Bruce Brown’s personal theatre- print
of the movie, back on the big screen after sitting in his vault for thirty
years.
After the movie, Brown and
the attending riders of the past were on stage for introductions and
interviews.

Three hours before show time, a huge crowd had already
turned out to enjoy an assortment of displays of vintage bikes and
get posters, shirts and other memorabilia signed by attending
stars of the past .

Bruce Brown (in cap), was overwhelmed by the ongoing popularity of the
movie he created thirty years ago. Here he chats with one of the
attendees.

Parts Magazine publisher Don Emde (left) pulled 25 photos out of his
vintage motorcycle photo files to create a special set of On Any
Sunday-era prints. Legendary racer Gary Nixon signs the print of
him in the set, as did the others that were on hand. The set was
auctioned off on stage later in the evening for $3,200, with all
the money going the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Larry Langley (left), who works for Saddlemen /Travelcade, created the
On Any Sunday Reunion to raise funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor
Foundation. His motorcycle club, the Orange County Dualies, have
raised thousands of dollars over the year for the foundation. Larry
shared emcee duties on stage with Tom White.

Two generations meet. Noted motorcycle helmet painter and
product designer Troy Lee (left of painting) presents On Any Sunday
star Malcolm Smith (right) with a specially-commissioned painting that
commemorates Malcolm’s Baja accomplishments.

The Grand Finale of the night was the gathering of all attendees that
appeared in the movie on stage. Mert Lawwill , one of the key figures
of the movie is front and center, with Bruce Brown behind him in
