LETTERMAN
SHOW IS DENIED PERMITS FOR SPIDERMAN Today however, AMA/Prostar was notified by Chris Moloney, a segment producer for The Late Show via email that "unfortunately, the Late Show won't be able to secure a permit from the city, and will therefore be unable to use Larry or his bike on the show. " Moloney reviewed a package with several ideas of how to incorporate the Spiderman into the program, along with a proposed show idea that would challenge other late show hosts who claim to have super fast motorcycles. The news would seem discouraging to some, but Cara sees it still as a step forward for McBride, AMA, Prostar, and motorcycle dragracing as a whole. "To think that we had gotten this far in the process with a franchise such as CBS and David Letterman is a reward in itself," he adds "The whole Late Show staff now knows who Larry Spiderman McBride is, they've seen the baddest drag bike on earth, and they were pushing to have us live on Broadway. I don't think that motorcycle drag racing has ever gotten this far on a national level. I'm proud to be a part of making it happen." AMA/Prostar is based in Huntsville, Alabama and is the Drag Racing division of the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association). Founded in 1924, the AMA has an unparalleled history of pursuing, protecting and promoting the interests of the world's largest and most dedicated group of motorcycle enthusiasts. The AMA is also the world's largest motorsports sanctioning body. AMA/Prostar has evolved over 15 years to become the largest motorcycle drag racing sanction in the world. The organization holds records and hosts riders for the fastest (243 mph) and quickest (5.86sec) motorcycles on asphalt. The 2005, eight-race tour will bring thousands of bikes in fifteen different classes down the finest race tracks in the world. All to compete for cash and contingency prizes totaling over $1,400,000 in cash and contingency. |
