HANGTOWN CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF MOTOCROSS ACTION AT HONDA
MX CLASSIC PRESENTED BY JACKSON RANCHERIA HOTEL AND CASINO
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 14, 2008) - The most senior circuit of the AMA Toyota
Motocross Championship presented by FMF celebrates 40 years of national event
action with the Honda Hangtown Motocross Classic presented by Jackson Rancheria
Hotel and Casino at Hangtown MX Park in the Prairie City State Vehicle Recreation
Area, May 31-June 1.
A host to professional motocross since 1968 and a part of the AMA Motocross Championship
since 1974, Hangtown will commemorate its anniversary with unique changes to
the historic circuit. In addition to its new date, a redesigned track layout
will present a fresh challenge for the riders. Combine that with a reverse direction
run around the hallowed grounds for a truly innovative experience for riders
and fans alike.
Furthermore, track officials have introduced an expanded seating and hospitality
section. Aimed at providing an easier way for riders’ families to enjoy the weekend
festivities, the new facilities will help Hangtown grow in popularity. The series’
highest attended venue, the track hopes to build upon the crowd energetic and
dedicated motocross faithful it hosted in 2007. Eager fans can purchase tickets
in advance or enter for a chance to win tickets thanks to the launch of the new
Hangtown website at www.hangtownmx.com.
Honda returns as the event’s title sponsor for the third consecutive year and
will showcase a full line of its off-road motorcycles at the race. Jackson Rancheria
Hotel & Casino, Jackson, California’s first-class hotel and casino, joins
the national as a presenting sponsor for the first time.
In partnership with The Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club, Hangtown will invite
members of several local city councils, surrounding mayors, senators, and members
of congress to be a part of an ongoing dignitary effort, showcasing the need
for off-highway vehicle parks.
