BIG BEAR CHOPPERS HAS FIRST CERTIFIED X-WEDGE POWERED BIKE

La Crosse, Wisconsin (May 14, 2008) S&S® would like to announce the first X-Wedge™ 50 state certified vehicle; the Big Bear Choppers™, G.T.X. Bagger. S&S worked very closely with Big Bear Choppers in the new S&S Emissions Certification Laboratory to give Big Bear Choppers this distinction.

The G.T.X. (Grand Touring X-Wedge) is a stretched ProStreet mutant of a bagger motorcycle that Big Bear Chopper’s considers the perfect weekend getaway vehicle. One of the proprietary and patented characteristics of this bike is the position of the passenger sitting in front of the rear wheel. This innovative seating position places more weight in the center of the vehicle to produce better handling and comfort for both the operator and passenger. Other key features include an additional auxiliary fuel tank located under the seat, totaling 5 gallons. A large capacity oil tank feeds the new efficient and powerful EFI X-Wedge engine from S&S. The large volume composite storage bags are purposefully designed with the motorcycle’s overall aesthetics, making the bags a central aspect of the complete vehicle design. Its innovative downtube dimensionally molded shroud not only completes the motorcycle’s front lines, but it also acts to hide the less desirable clutch cable. The all-new S&S X-Wedge (www.x-wedge.com) is a 56-degree, closed-loop fuel-injected, three-cam, overhead valve v-twin designed to deliver the performance expected of an S&S engine, while complying with EPA laws. Initially, the X- Wedge will go to OE manufacturers of production customs in engine sizes of 117 and 121ci—with larger packages to come later. The 56-degree v-twin utilizes three belt-driven, large base-circle cams; two exhaust cams and a common intake cam achieve almost straight pushrod angles that combine with automotive-style rockers and roller tappets to create an incredibly quiet, EPA noise conscious valve train. The X-Wedge is actually 5db quieter than a 4 1/8” S&S 117ci engine from 2000rpm through 5000rpm!
