hose new Hondas are red hot and Yoshimura has just turned up the flame under both of them. Brand-new and genuine Yoshimura performance proven exhausts are now available for the 2008 CBR-1000RR and CBR-600RR. The new R-77 exhaust–available in both full-system and slip-on configurations and with a choice of Carbon Fiber, Stainless Steel or Titanium–is a direct fit on the newly redesigned CBR-1000RR, the ‘08 model. And dropping down the displacement ladder a little in that Honda sport bike lineup there’s the Yoshimura RS-5 exhaust for the CBR-600RR. It’s also offered in those full-system and slip-on configurations and once again with a choice of Carbon Fiber, Stainless Steel or Titanium construction. The RS-5 fits both 2007 and 2008 models.
The R-77 for the big Honda is brand-new. Yoshimura R&D has developed a totally new exhaust system for the redesigned CBR-1000RR, a full system and silencer to neatly replace the bulky stock units. Along with improving the sound and power–a given with Yoshimura–these systems cut a significant amount of weight from the bike. Another plus. And there are choices. The R-77 muffler is available with Carbon Fiber, Stainless Steel and Titanium sleeves and it’s all available right now.
The R-77 full system is a high flow exhaust with no punches pulled. The system features thin-wall stainless steel tubing to reduce weight while still allowing the use of large-diameter tubing to let this heavy breathing engine develop maximum horsepower and torque. Yoshimura’s testing has netted gains of more than 6 horsepower over stock with a corresponding bump in torque. Retaining the original muffler position Yoshimura not only lowered the overall weight of the system–the R-77 is 8 pounds lighter than the already light OE Honda system–but also centralized that weight and lowered the center of gravity. Two more performance advantages right there. The R-77 gives an improved feel to the CBR-1000RR’s handling and acceleration while optimizing performance overall.
The R-77 full system includes the R-77 muffler, a stainless steel header and mid-pipe and all the necessary hardware for installation.
Slip-ons have become an increasingly popular alternative these days and Yoshimura has that in the R-77, too. Simply, quickly and economically replacing that stock Honda muffler with Yoshimura R&D’s slip-on not only greatly improves the looks and the sound of the CBR-1000RR but there’s a real horsepower, torque and performance gain here, too. The R-77 slip-on system is designed to improve not only high-RPM power but also midrange torque. The tailpipe, especially, is custom tuned to the flow characteristics of this big motor and helps to greatly improve the midrange torque band. And there’s a weight savings with the slip-on. The R-77 Slip-on System is 8 pounds lighter than the OE parts replaced. The R-77 Slip-on Systems include the R-77 muffler, a stainless steel mid-pipe and all necessary installation hardware.
The CBR-600RR hasn’t been forgotten in all of this. Yoshimura’s RS-5 is one of the most unique exhaust systems from this company to date. With its durable, high-grade stainless steel headers and mid-pipe, a trick cone-shaped end cap and a carbon fiber muffler sleeve the RS-5 lets this ultra-popular CBR scream. There are full system and slip-on options here, too.
The RS-5 full-system features full stainless steel mandrel bent construction to ensure the highest quality and durability. The RS-5’s smooth flowing headers and tailpipe significantly speed up the exhaust flow for noticeable increases in both horsepower and torque throughout the RPM range. Gains of at least 6 horsepower are easily attainable with this system all by itself; upgrade the air filter and re-curve the fuel map and the gains are even larger. And the RS-5 is a lightweight. The Yoshimura system cuts the weight by more than 4 pounds.
The RS-5 is available in that economical slip-on configuration, too. This good looking, good sounding and great performing muffler is offered with Carbon Fiber, Titanium and Stainless Steel sleeve options. Everything needed to quickly and easily install the silencer is included.
The R-77 and RS-5 are both pure Yoshimura and they’re both available now. They’re both exhausts you can trust to deliver real performance, too. It’s been that way since 1954 when Pops Yoshimura released his first performance exhaust for a motorcycle. Since then Yoshimura has gained a faithful following because Yoshimura exhausts unfailingly build power and make winners. “Concentrate on nothing but performance, quality and fit,” Pops Yoshimura said. All of that’s here in the Yoshimura exhausts for the newest Hondas, the CBR-1000RR and CBR-600RR. The Yoshimura R-77 and RS-5 are available right now and Parts Unlimited has them both.
