iders are going to love this one. It’s brand-new and right in time for the ‘08 season. Saddlemen’s S4 Quick-Disconnect Saddlebag Mounting Kits allow a super-secure hard-mount for most saddlebags on most bikes–and then allow those bags to come right back off in seconds. One minute you’re set up for touring, the next right back to cruising. Better yet, the component kits that make this possible–docking posts, saddlebag supports and signal relocators–are available separately to fit each brand of bike so if your model doesn’t need the turn signals relocated, or you already have saddlebag supports on the bike, you just need the Saddlemen kit that finishes the job.
The kits work on Kawasakis, Suzukis, Yamahas and Hondas and Parts Unlimited has them all.
It starts with Saddlemen’s Docking Post & Fastener Kit. These docking posts replace the fender strut bolts on the bike and, with their “QTL” Quarter Turn Locking Fasteners at the end of each post they’ll mount the saddlebags in a safe, secure manner. But with a quick twist of that QTL Fastener the saddlebags are off again, simple and quick as that. The Docking Post Kits come with four Docking Posts and everything needed to install them and the saddlebags. All the fasteners, spacers, saddlebag grommets, support clips, nuts and bolts are included. One Post Kit fits all the Kawasakis, another fits the Yamahas, a third is for all the Suzukis and there are two kits to cover all Hondas. Stocking is easy. Five part numbers and you have the whole metric field covered.
You can complete this “Quick Disconnect” conversion with a couple more new Saddlemen kits and accessories when needed. The Saddlebag Support Kit comes with two chrome-plated steel saddlebag supports to perfectly position and support the saddlebags on the bike. Here, only one part number covers it all. Each Support Kit is a universal fit and includes any hardware that might be needed for multiple applications. Saddlemen did this so dealers would only have to keep one kit in stock and be confident they’ll have what it takes to fit any year or model variation, including bikes with accessories like sissy bar mounts.
Add the Saddlemen Turn Signal Relocation Kit and you’ll have it all. When it’s required, the Relocation Kit neatly moves the stock turn signals further back and out of the way. Specially designed turn-signal mounting brackets cleverly attach to the license plate bracket, well back from the saddlebags.
Each of these kits–the Post Kit, the Support Kit and the Turn-Signal Relocation Kit–is available separately with applications for all the metrics. The Docking Post kits are each $99.95 retail, with Saddlebag Supports at $49.95 and the Turn Signal Relocation Kits at only $19.95. Together, or separately, you get everything needed to quick-mount saddlebags to just about any Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki or Yamaha, all the years and all the models. Parts Unlimited has it, and it’s in stock now.
