ith more than 200 World Championship titles to its name Ohlins has more than proven it has what it takes to keep riders out front. It just got better. The new TTX 36 is the next chapter in this winning story of high-performance suspension. These shocks are the culmination of three-decades of experience on the world’s racetracks, three-decades of winning and providing winners with the suspension they need.
The TTX 36, with applications for the Ducati Superbike 1098, the Honda CBR600R and CBR1000R, the Kawasaki ZX-6R and ZX-10R, Suzuki’s GSX-R600 and R1000 and the Yamaha YZF-R6 and YZF-R1 was developed using experience gained in all that racing and winning. The TTX 36 comes right from MotoGP, WSBK and AMA competition and this shock has been tuned to perfection. There are fresh-design valves for more consistent shock behaviour, there’s a completely new piston on the inside that significantly reduces internal friction and this damper even features attachment points for stroke sensor brackets at the cylinder head and end brackets–something coming straight from that Ohlins racing heritage. The TTX 36 is a serious suspension component for serious riders.
Of course the TTX 36 is ultra-adjustable. It features both compression and rebound damping and a hydraulic preload adjuster. There’s a wide range of adjustment possibilities here, too; even the shape and dynamics of the damping curve can be fine-tuned to the application and conditions. How the TTX 36 does all this is also unique.      Unlike a conventional shock, compression damping is not caused by a drop in pressure on the rebound side of the piston. Here there’s an increase in pressure on the compression side. As a result internal pressures stay low and cavitation is minimized. That low pressure also contributes to a great response in the shock’s overall action, even during short-stroke/high-force movement. The TTX 36’s piggyback reservoir keeps the shock oil nice and cool, too, for consistent damping and long shock life.
We’ll say it again. The TTX 36 is a serious suspension component for serious riders. It’s not cheap, the suggested retail is $1,335.95. But this shock isn’t lacking a thing, and for certain riders on certain bikes nothing less will do. The Ohlins TTX 36 is available now, so check with your Parts Unlimited rep for more information.
