ou already know that at Drag Specialties it’s not enough for them to sell you products–they want to help you sell those products, too. In 2008 you’ll see more events dedicated to helping dealers increase their profits than ever before.

The year kicked off in Cincinnati at the V-Twin Expo where Drag Specialties wowed the crowd. “This year was very successful for us,” says Jim Matchette, Drag Specialties’ National Sales Manager. “We had more dealers register at our booths than last year, and we hosted over 1,000 people at our Super Bowl party, where we
gave away prizes during halftime, including a trip to the Runnin’ the Ozarks ride.”
Drag Specialties’ 2008 game plan isn’t all parties, though–the hard work continued even after the Cincy show closed, and will keep up all year. “Our whole plan this year is to be out there supporting the dealers with our trucks and our Open House      Program,” Matchette says. As an example, he cites the first Drag Specialties Super Showcase, held in Minneapolis in March and attended by over 100 vendors in the V-twin and metric aftermarket.
“The Super Showcase is a chance for dealers to come and meet vendors, learn about their products, learn how to sell them and, as an added bonus, get discounts
on them.” It’s also a great opportunity for manufacturers to tell dealers about their products, and suggest new products.
Another example of Drag Specialties’ commitment to helping dealers make sales took place during Daytona Bike Week, where Drag Specialties set up in the parking lot of Carl’s Speed Shop. “At Bike Week we’ve always been where the main part of the rally was, but this time we did it at Carl’s, and it was a huge success,” Matchette says. “We brought the truck, and we had bikes and flags and the kiosks–it was a
pretty big deal. We moved a lot of products through Carl’s Speed Shop throughout the event.”
In 2008 dealers who are also race fans will be able to participate in NHRA Hospitality events at races where Pro Stock bikes are running. A buy-in for tickets gets 50 dealer personnel into the races where they get an up-close look at the action, including seeing the bikes and meeting the crew of the G Squared Drag Specialties/S&S drag-racing operation, along with Drag Specialties dealers and team rider Chris Rivas.
“I don’t think people realize how many of these events we do,” says Matchette. “We’re going to be nationwide all year. Other things might be slowing down, but not Drag Specialties–we’re doing more events, more hospitality events, and more dealer-oriented functions than ever. We’re out there trying to generate business.”
