SuperTrapp now offers a new version of the Paul Yaffe-designed Phantom pipe for the FLH.

even years ago SuperTrapp took a bold step into the custom world. Teaming up with one of the best-known builders in the business SuperTrapp introduced a lineup of affordable bolt-on pipes with a distinctive “one off” flair. Pure custom in their design and execution, those Paul Yaffe-designed/SuperTrapp-produced “Road Legend” pipes were a smash-hit. The Crack Pipe, X Pipe and Phantom–all designed by Yaffe in the style he’s known for–brought a look, sound and vibe to the off-the-shelf market that hadn’t been there before. The whole series proved to be one of the most influential exhaust lines to come along in quite some time.
This season there’s even more of it. For 2008 there are Road Legend pipes, and Road Legend add-ons now, for more applications, more bikes, with more features and they’re available in even more styles. The lineup has even expanded to cover those currently red hot baggers; the latest version of the Yaffe-designed Phantom is for the FLH. You can bet on that one becoming a popular seller, too.
Yaffe has designed this newest Phantom pipe specifically for the baggers. Still a 2-into-1, it has the same big swoopy lines and collector that made the original so cool. It’s a great look on a bagger. The pipes join together at the collector and then turn directly out. It’s all finished off with a polished aluminum trim ring. Covered in a long lasting black ceramic finish topped and accented with four chrome-plated heatshields the new Phantom is a stunner. This latest addition to the Road Legend Series is in the ‘08 FatBook right now.
There are Road Legend add-ons this season, too. For the more discreet and conservative riders Yaffe designed an assortment of End Caps sure to make an impression. There are four new End Caps available to fit the SE and Kerker model Slip-ons. Two new billet aluminum “Afterburners” have a jet-pack look and there’s a pair of new chrome plated steel End Caps, “Big Pappa” and “The Claw,” to put an aggressive look on an otherwise ordinary Slip-on. All those new End Caps are in the ‘08 FatBook, too, available now.
And of course the originals are still there. The Road Legend Crack Pipes are ready to transform any Softail from mild to wild and added features include heavier wall tubing for increased durability and there are models now available in black ceramic with chrome heatshields. The Road Legend X Pipes are another Yaffe/SuperTrapp classic. With their abbreviated and ventilated heatshields and chrome billet end tips this system has inspired lots of builders. There’s heavier wall tubing and color options now, too: The X Pipe is now available in chrome, classic black or brushed silver, all with distinctive chrome heatshields. And of course there’s that original 2-into-1 Phantom, the pipe based on Paul Yaffe’s fire-breathing exhaust from his Discovery Channel build. The Phantom is now offered in brushed silver and classic black and comes with four-piece chrome heatshields.
All this is just the start. Keep an eye on SuperTrapp this year. More custom pipes are on the way and when they’re ready you’ll see them here and Drag Specialties will have them. In the meantime make sure bagger riders know about that new Phantom. It’s made just for them.
