K&N’s factory and headquarters has been located in Riverside, California since the company was created.

&N Filters got its start with high-flow/high-filtration air filters for desert racing over 35 years back. So, all the K&Ns available for today’s off-road machines should come as no surprise. There are applications for virtually every off-road and motocross machine you can name, too–4 Stroke Motocross, Enduro, Supermoto, ATVs, UTVs and Side by Sides to boot! Even Pit Bikes. Every off-road filter is built to fit the factory air box, too. K&N is consistently updating the application list, too, so there are direct-fit filters for everything from the oldest machines to the newest 2008 models. And there are lots of Universal Clamp-On Filters, all perfect for those specialty Dirt Trackers, Supermoto and Pit Bike racing applications. And every one of those K&N filters is made for the dirt, ideally suited to deal with the dust and dirt of off-road riding. K&N pleated them that way in order to gain dirt capacity and always has. These filters provide a noticeable boost in airflow, too. They’ll quicken up the throttle response and in many cases significantly boost horsepower. Filtration, capacity and power, that’s performance.
Top Supercross, Motocross, Off-Road, Pit Bike, Supermoto riders and race teams, Factory and Privateer alike, use K&N Filters–and they’re the exact same ones that are on your shelf now. With K&N everyone gets the best; the performance is available across the board. Every K&N filter is made right in Riverside, California, too, and each one has undergone more development and testing than you’d ever imagine. The sizes of the filter elements, the design and construction of the base and cap and even the number of pleats for those multiple layers of specially impregnated cotton gauze all gets tested and fine-tuned until it’s right. K&N even hand-counts each pleat in a new production run making sure it’s the same as the filter that was approved in the lab. And everyone, top racer to ordinary rider, gets the same thing. There are Off-Road K&Ns for every bike, ATV and UTV on the market. There’s a reason why more riders and teams are switching over to K&N all the time. It’s the performance, ease of use and quality.
And remember, those K&N filters are NOT throw-away disposable filters. They’re all completely serviceable and can be used over and over again. That’s a huge plus in the harsh environment of off-roading. Every time you sell a K&N High Flow Air Filter slide some cleaning supplies or a Filter Service & Recharger Kit up on the counter, too. When properly used that Recharger Kit will add untold miles and hours of service to the K&N air filter. Unlike foam or paper filters the specially treated and oiled gauze of a K&N element is there for the life of the filter. The key is routine service and re-oiling. The goal is to keep the filter looking and performing factory-fresh, and when the dirt and grime builds up to the point where you can’t easily distinguish the outer wire mesh covering from the pleated gauze under it it’s time for a cleaning and re-oiling. Just tap the filter on a hard surface to dislodge any loose debris, liberally spray on the K&N Cleaner packed in the Service Kit and let it work for about 15 minutes then rinse the filter clean under running water. Re-oil it and you’re ready to go, and a little oil goes a long way. In fact, too much oil is as bad as putting on none at all. Go for the same deep-red color the filter had when it was new and the best way to get there is in stages. Spray on some oil and let the filter sit for 15 minutes or so and if any white spots remain put on just a bit more oil. But don’t over-do it.
While you’ve got that rider thinking K&N show him the K&N Performance Oil Filters, too. They’re Race Spec providing lots more filtration area than a standard replacement. They use a special Synthetic Media designed for maximum flow and filtration with minimum pressure drop and a K&N Oil Filter won’t break down filtering synthetic oils. And on the Canister Filters there’s a heavy-duty steel body, there are pressure relief and anti drain-back valves where applicable and there’s even a handy 17mm hex nut formed right on the end for easy installations and removals. That nut is cross-drilled for safety wiring, too. There is a very large cross reference from ATV to Sportbikes so there are plenty of applications. And racers love them!
K&N Air Filters, and the Performance Oil Filters, are made for off-road. They always have been. There are applications for everything and everyone knows the name and reputation of K&N. Make it a package sale–High-Flow Air Filter, Filter Service & Recharger Kit and Performance Oil Filter. It’s all available through Parts Unlimited.
