ast year’s Roland Sands Design Vintage Kits put plenty of smiles on plenty of faces. Those bolt-on tanks, fenders, handlebars, seats and wheels to transform a stock Harley into a convincing custom set the industry on its ear. Those RSD Vintage Kits were, and still are, a hit.
Now get ready for 2008. Roland Sands Design has just rolled out an enticing lineup of new goodies, and if you think riders liked the Vintage Kits wait until they get a load of what’s been added. There’s something here for everyone and it’s all just as “kustom kool” as everything else RSD. You can start with the Diesel Wheels available in either Chrome or the RSD exclusive finish Contrast Cut™.
The Diesel Wheel is the latest addition, joining those current RSD designs, the Domino and Judge. If history is any indication it’s already a winner. The Domino was V-Twin Magazine’s 2007 “Wheel Design of the Year” and the Judge was RSD’s 2007 top seller. The new Diesel Wheel adds one more option to all of that, and it’s available in all the popular V-twin sizes. Of course there are matching Chrome and Contrast Cut™ belt sprockets and two-piece brake rotors, the rotors available in both 11 1/2- and 13-inch sizes.
There’s an RSD exhaust system now, too. The 2-into-1 “Tracker” is brand-new for 2008. Designed by Roland Sands, manufactured by Vance & Hines, it’s a collaborative effort. A black-ceramic heat shield coating accented with a chrome-plated billet-aluminum End Cap and matching CNC-machined heat shields set this pipe apart from the pack. All the right logos are here for bragging rights, too. The heat shield carries the Vance & Hines name, the End Cap has the RSD logo. The Tracker is bolt-on ready for the newest 2008 applications including an O2 sensor bung, but fitment isn’t limited to just the newest Softails–the RSD Tracker Exhaust is a direct bolt-on to Softies dating back to 1986.
There are a couple new intakes to go along with that pipe, too. There’s the RSD Venturi Air Cleaner available in Chrome and Contrast Cut™ that uses a K&N High Flow Air Filter and there’s the RSD Nostalgia Velocity Stack, available in Chrome or Black. Both come with all mounting hardware and breathers and those Nostalgia Velocity Stack breathers are also available separately.
RSD has lots of new handlebars for ‘08, too. Five of them to be exact. There are three new designs for the touring bikes/baggers, there’s a new Apehanger and there’s a really low and mean flat bar with integrated risers. The “Short Stack” and “Flatout,” that new ape and the drag bar, are available in either chrome or black and the FL bars, the “Convoy,” “Lazy Boy” and “Glider” sport stunning chrome. RSD has a stainless steel upper motor-mount available, too, and there’s a new headlight bracket to position that light just right on a Springer.
RSD isn’t done. The new “Gas It” Fuel Injection Kit neatly relocates all the fuel injection hardware and apparatus into any carburetor-style gas tank, OE Harley or aftermarket. The weld-in steel manifold measures just 3.75-in x 8.0-in. and uses all the OE Harley components to relocate the fuel pump, regulator and filter. Anyone with a fuel-injected bike is no longer gas-tank limited. There’s a patent pending on this little number.
Got all that? Drag Specialties does. Roland Sands Design has just unloaded a truckload of new stuff for 2008 and it’s all in the FatBook.
