ff-Road Racing, Motocross and Road Racing are great sports and the FMF presence is found in all of them. The FMF/STM Slipper Clutch association is prominent with Erion Racing Formula Extreme Champion Josh Hayes and the Ten Kate/Hannspree World Superbike championship team of James Toseland and Kenan Sofuoglu. And, in motocross, FMF Exhaust-equipped Jason Lawrence had a strong #2 finish in the Supercross Lites West Series in 2007. But many believe that the real test of machinery, the test of “what is fast and what will last” is off-road racing. This year in America, one company absolutely dominated off-road racing, and that company is FMF. Take a look at FMF’s off-road record this season…
WORCS: Kurt Caselli won his first ever World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) title with consistent podiums and two major victories on his FMF-equipped KTM. WORCS races are two hours plus at high speeds over tough terrain, many bikes and riders don’t even finish. Caselli was in top shape all season long and his FMF-equipped KTM usually was up front and running strong when the checkered flag flew. Add Kurt’s victories to FMF/Suzuki Off-Road racer Ryan Hughes’ three wins earlier in the season and FMF-equipped motorcycles won nearly half of the 12 race series.
GNCC: FMF-equipped riders took both the XC1 Pro and XC2 Lites titles of the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Championship. In XC1, David Knight finally completed his mission to conquer the U.S. by collecting the title. Knight won seven events, and the championship makes him just the third rider ever to notch an ISDE Overall Victory, a World Enduro Championship and the GNCC title–with Shane Watts and Juha Salminen also completing the task. Justin Williamson, also riding an FMF-equipped KTM became the first rider to win the XC2 Lites GNCC Championship with a string of victories and podiums that put him at the top of the title chase at season’s end.
AMA National Enduro: The National Enduro Championship was already secured to KTM before the last round of the National Enduro Series, but to which KTM rider was yet to be determined. FMF-equipped KTM riders Mike Lafferty and Russell Bobbitt went into the eighth and final round of the National Enduro Series with Lafferty only 16 points ahead of teammate Bobbitt. Bobbitt rode to the best of his ability and won the race, but it was not enough to take home the championship as Lafferty remained close behind in the second place position. Lafferty knew that second place was enough for the championship win and chose to ride a safe race to secure the title. With this championship, Lafferty now ties the all-time Enduro Championship record with Dick Burleson for eight championship wins. Lafferty will now set his goal on next season’s championship in order to break the existing record and become the new record holder.
AMA National Hare Scrambles: Jason Raines, riding his FMF-equipped Yamaha, won four of the ten rounds of the AMA National Hare Scrambles Series to clinch his third Championship. His main competition for the title was Justin Williamson, winner of the GNCC XC2 Lites Championship on his FMF-equipped KTM.
AMA Hare & Hound Series: David Pearson absolutely dominated the Hare & Hound Series by winning four of the six events and finishing second and third in the two events he didn't win. It was an almost perfect season and Pearson has set his sights on making 2008 the perfect season.
AMA Endurocross: David Knight again! In the three race series Knight has won the first two, that’s when he’s not winning the GNCCs. This guy is capable of winning everything on his FMF-equipped KTM.
From the western deserts and mountains to the eastern woods and valleys FMF wins races and championships. Whether an event lasts several hours or even Six Days, FMF will see you through with enhanced performance all the way to the checkered flag.
