ot sellers just got a lot hotter. Vance & Hines pipes are some of the most popular on the market and the “Black Line” with applications for Sportsters, Softails, Dynas and FLs puts a sinister face on those exhausts. The Side Shots, Big Radius, Big Shots Duals and Short Shots Staggereds are all available now with a new Black Ceramic finish. It’s a great look, especially with that sneaky little chrome treatment at the tip and the understated chrome signature badge. The Black Line pipes are available now.
That’s not all that’s new. For the 2008 model year Harley-Davidson has changed the rules again with a “refinement” to the ‘08 range of FL tourers. It includes an electronic throttle control with a brand-new cruise control system. All this required a new Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which means FI tuning devices for existing Harleys won’t work on the 2008 touring bikes. Vance & Hines has one that will. The new ‘08 Fuelpak is totally compatible with that new ECU, ready to custom-adjust the air/fuel ratio to the needs of those Black Line pipes, or any free-flowing replacement exhaust, for that matter. The 2008-model Fuelpak is also available now, just like the Black Line pipes.
To introduce the Black Line, Vance & Hines chose the most popular style for each Harley model. For the 2007–2008 Sportsters it’s the Side Shots, fitting right up to the XLH1200, 1200 Custom, the 883 Custom, the XLH883 and the 883 Hugger. The Black Line Big Radius model is offered for the new ‘07–‘08 Softails, the FXSTS, FLSTF, FLSTN, FXSTB, FXST, FXSTC and the Deuce. For the 2007–2008 touring models it’s the Black Line Big Shots Duals and the 2006 and later Dynas get the Black Line Short Shots Staggereds with a direct fit on the FXDI, FXDI35, FXDBI, FXDCI, FXDL, FXDLI, FXDWG, FXDWGI, FXDX and FXDXT. All the pipes in all the styles and applications include louvered-core baffles as standard and there’s an optional “Quiet Baffle” available. Full coverage heat shields feature that distinctive, race-quality Black Ceramic coating and of course there are welded-in ports for factory or aftermarket Oxygen sensors. The Side Shots, Big Radius, Big Shots Duals and Short Shots Staggereds have all been around long enough to become familiar to everyone. Now there’s a new look, and on certain bikes these pipes will be exactly what it takes to put things over the top, style-wise.
And when it’s the Black Line Big Shot Duals going on a new ‘08 touring-model Harley put one of those ‘08-model Fuelpaks on the counter, too. It’s the right way–the only way–to custom-tune that new bike to its new exhaust. When you install a performance exhaust like the Black Line, airflow changes and the air/fuel ratio needs to change with it. The Fuelpak lets you do it, quickly and easily. It’s the perfect complement to a performance exhaust and unlike other fuel management systems that only add fuel, the Vance & Hines Fuelpak lets you takes away fuel, too, allowing for a much more precise calibration of that all important air/fuel ratio. And this one works with that new 2008 ECU.
Black Line pipes and the 2008 Fuelpaks are available now. It’s a new look and a brand-new way to custom tune a new bike and only Vance & Hines has it. Ask your Drag Specialties rep for all of the details.
