nless you’ve been snoozing under the shade of a Chopper for the last while, you know that it has become a Bagger world out there. With a passion matched by tens of thousands of satisfied Bagger riders, even magazines formerly focused on Choppers and Bobbers have migrated to these more real-world motorcycles. It’s more than a trend; it’s a movement, and one that Cobra Engineering has addressed with great slip-on mufflers and now enhances with its new $369.95 True Dual exhaust system.
The new True Dual headpipes come with Cobra’s limited Lifetime Warranty in addition to a host of other unique features. One-piece full-length, 2 1/2-inch diameter heat shields cover the pipes from the exhaust ports to the chromed, muffler bodies. The heat shields are a larger diameter than most other offerings on the market and the single-piece shields (especially on the rear pipe) are singular in their design and effectiveness. The pipes were also designed to deliver optimal torque and power while increasing the stock bike’s rideability right in the sweet spot of the torque curve.
“In the world of exhaust systems available to buyers, we think the Cobra True Duals stand out,” says Cobra Engineering President Tim McCool. “From the size of the heat shields to the price–a remarkably low $369.95 for the headpipes with heat shields–there is a lot to consider. And when you throw in our warranty we’re way ahead.”
The system consists of headpipes and heat shields and all of the mounting hardware needed to complete the installation of the made-in-the-U.S.A. pipes. The headpipes’ 1 3/4-inch diameter ensures the stock mufflers and most aftermarket mufflers will fit.
Cobra also offers four of its own slip-on style mufflers to complete the package: a straight cut four-inch canister style with a machined four-inch chromed billet tip and a Slash Down, Upper Cut and Slash Cut. Retail prices range from $399.95 for the Slash Cuts to $449.95 for the Straight Cut with the billet tip.
In conclusion, McCool added, “Like we do with all of our other accessories and exhausts, we make this system right here in the United States. We’ve been an American company from the beginning, and we take great pride in our craftsmanship, innovation and quality.”
