he 2008 Kawasakis are coming and Yoshimura is ready. A full lineup of RS-2 exhausts, Slip-Ons, Full Systems and even lightweight race-ready Full Titanium Systems are now available for these super-hot KFX450R Quads. No matter the riding conditions or the needs and budget of the rider, and that includes everyone from weekend amateurs to full-on pros, there’s an RS-2 system for the ‘08 Kawasaki. Lightweight, durable and packed with Yoshimura performance, the systems all come with AMA-compliant baffling. In a nod to the noise police even that full-on Titanium RS-2 race system is whisper quiet at just 99-decibels. The stainless steel and aluminum Full System and the Slip-Ons are even quieter at just 96-decibels. Yoshimura didn’t give anything up to get these RS-2s this quiet either. These systems all add championship-level performance to that KFX450R.
Let’s start at the top, with that Full Titanium System, the RS-2 Pro. Quiet as it is, this one was designed with two things in mind: pure performance and maximum weight savings. With its Titanium header, Titanium mid-pipe, and the Titanium sleeve with the unique “Diamond Oval” shaped muffler body that’s carried throughout the RS-2 line, this one shaves pounds. The RS-2 Pro is no-nonsense performance port-to-tip. That Diamond Oval muffler shape isn’t just for looks. This is a carefully configured Yoshimura shape that actually cuts the sound while enhancing performance and extending the life of the packing material inside. The Yoshimura wash plug and retaining springs are heat-insulated and all mounting brackets and hardware are designed and built for maximum strength and support with minimal weight. This is a “pro series” system in every sense of the term. With the RS-2 Pro there are no compromises and no excuses.
Looking for something not quite so exotic? The RS-2 Comp Series for the Kawasaki offers all of the above in a cost-effective combination of stainless steel pipes and an aluminum muffler sleeve. Not every rider needs lightweight Titanium or, quite frankly, has the budget for it. The Comp Series RS-2 fills that performance void in a wallet-friendly way. The more affordable RS-2 Comp comes with a Stainless Steel header, Stainless Steel mid-pipe and here that Diamond Oval RS-2 muffler is formed with a tough and long-lasting Aluminum Alloy sleeve. The Comp Series RS-2 features a USFS-approved spark arrestor, too, along with the same Yoshimura wash plug and heat-insulated springs from the Pro Series pipes. Giving up just a little bit in weight savings but saving a whole lot in price, the Comp Series RS-2 is destined to be a popular all-around performer.
The RS-2 is also available as a simple Slip-On. A Yoshimura performance upgrade doesn’t get much easier or affordable than this. The RS-2 Slip-On offers the power, sound and that distinctive Diamond Oval appearance in a simple, quick installation. A perfect fit to the stock pipes, the Comp Series RS-2 Mufflers are a great replacement answer. There’s no skimping here, either. This aluminum-sleeved Slip-On is pure RS-2 inside and out, meeting that 96-decibel level with the USFS-approved low-volume insert/spark arrestor.
All these AMA noise-compliant, Yoshimura-performing 2008 Kawasaki RS-2 exhausts, both Full-Systems and the Slip-On, are available now. Kawasaki’s new Quads are coming, Yoshimura is ready and so is Parts Unlimited. |
