uestion: What is the greatest dynasty in American Motocross? Many possibilities come to mind; Jeremy McGrath’s seven Supercross Championships, Ricky Carmichael’s perfect seasons and countless titles, Team Honda’s dominance of the 1990s. Those are all good answers, but the best answer is probably Pro Circuit. Consider this: so far this season, Pro Circuit-equipped riders have won every moto and overall (10 total motos, 5 rounds in each class) of the Outdoor Motocross Nationals in both classes. Here’s a breakdown of the moto-by-moto victories so far in the 2007 season:

AMA Motocross:
Ricky Carmichael (Makita Suzuki) – 7 motos, 5 overalls
James Stewart (Monster Energy/Kawasaki) – 3 motos

AMA Motocross Lites:
Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki) – 6 motos, 2 overalls
Ben Townley (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki) – 3 motos, 2 overalls
Josh Grant (Sobe/Samsung Honda) – 1 moto, 1 overall

But the Pro Circuit dynasty didn’t begin in 2007. They began with their first 125cc Supercross/Motocross team back in 1991 with a kid named Jeremy McGrath taking the 125cc (Lites) Supercross West title and Brian Swink taking the 125cc (Lites) Supercross East Championship. Since then the list of riders who have won titles with Pro Circuit reads like a “Who’s Who” of racing greats. McGrath, Michael Pichon, Ricky Carmichael, Nathan Ramsey, Ivan Tedesco, Mike Brown and Grant Langston have all won Supercross and/or Motocross Championships as Pro Circuit riders.
2006 was possibly the best year ever for Pro Circuit, as they won almost every title they went after. From Supercross to off-road, Pro Circuit machinery was on the track and winning races and Championships. In fact, you could say that almost every title won in 2006 was taken with Pro Circuit-equipped machinery.
Check out the list of Pro Circuit riders and Championships for 2006:

Monster Kawasaki’s James Stewart and Makita Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael had a close battle at High Point aboard their Pro Circuit-powered machines.

Ben Townley has had a solid season so far, with 3 moto wins and 2 overalls.

All of those #1 plates were won with Pro Circuit exhaust systems. So far the 2007 season for Pro Circuit looks like it will match or exceed 2006. During the Supercross season, Ryan Villopoto added the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Lites Series West Championship to his trophy case with his sixth win in seven races at the San Diego Supercross Lites final in February. Championships aren’t new to Villopoto, even at this level of the sport, because, as we all recall, Ryan was one of many Pro Circuit mounted riders to take titles in 2006. In fact, Villopoto won the biggest prize in Lites racing in 2006 when he took home the AMA National Motocross Lites Championship against one of the toughest fields in MX history. Right now, Villopoto (the defending Champ) is leading the points chase for the 2007 AMA National Motocross Lites Championship.
Then, to add to Pro Circuit’s trophy case, Ben Townley completed one of the biggest comebacks in AMA Supercross Lites history this season. His bike suffered a mechanical failure in the first round of the East series in Atlanta in February while leading the race. Townley charged back from a 25-point deficit and scored wins at St. Louis, Daytona Beach and Dallas to rally back into the points chase. He earned the AMA Supercross Lites East Championship with a solid second place finish in the final race of the title chase giving him a three-point margin of victory. On his way to the title Townley took three wins and two podiums. And, so far in the 2007 AMA National Motocross Lites season, who is the only rider to give Ryan Villopoto a run for the title? That would be his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammate Ben Townley who sits second in the points with three moto victories and two overall wins.
