ff-road legend Scott Summers recently hosted a group of Parts Unlimited/Moose Racing dealers and sales representatives at his home in Kentucky. The participants earned the trip through an incentive contest and were treated to four days of riding and recreation that rivaled a true factory ride.
During the months of January through March, dealers qualified for a random drawing by placing a $500 order for Moose Racing gear. The idea was based on the huge success of the Moose Utility Division Trophy Whitetail Hunt that ran in 2006. A random drawing determined the winning dealers and their sales rep.
The winners arrived on May 17th and spent the next few days participating in what could have easily been described as a rider’s paradise retreat. Imagine a world class riding facility prepared to perfection by a top pro rider, specifically for you, for a job well done at work! The facility included an eleven-mile loop containing A & B trails, expert level hills, a natural terrain motocross track, and a trials course! The trials course quickly became the hot spot for fun for all of the participants.
But what is a weekend of no work, no worries, and miles of racing track? Somehow, it is not enough for one man. Summers felt the weekend would not be complete until he introduced a phenomenon known as “Kan-tucky Surfing.” “How exactly does one attempt to surf in Kentucky,” you ask? This unbelievable feat requires an island, a moat, an ATV, a towrope, one person to drive, and the other to “fly.” You’re then told to hold on tight while the ATV speeds off and you are repeatedly whipped around the moat on surfboards! The afternoon passed quickly with hours of surfing in the sun. But Summers was not finished with his plans of fun and excitement. He rounded out the night by calling in a favor at the local dirt track. The entire group was treated to some good ol’ grass roots motorcycle flat track racing before retiring to bed.
The last morning the winners awoke to find all of their bikes lined up in a row outside ready to roll for one last ride. They passed the rest of the morning hours riding until hunger dictated the course of the afternoon. A leisurely ride down the Ohio River on the Party boat brought the group to a riverbank where they feasted on grilled meat and cookout staples. At last, the weekend drew to a close with the invention of a new version of southern surfing complete with a broomstick and all.
Moose Racing would like to thank each dealer and their sales reps for making the Scott Summers’ Holiday weekend one of the very best. We hope to make the next contest prize even better.
And to all Parts Unlimited dealers, if you catch wind of a contest where you could win a weekend of adventure hosted by Moose Racing, contact your local sales rep fast. You could be the next winner of a fantastic weekend filled with racin’, ridin’, and rockin’ good times.

his past June the UK’s Isle of Man – the “Jewel of the Irish Sea” – celebrated its centennial running of the famed Isle of Man TT. “Historical,” “Legendary,” “Dramatic,” call it what you want, but no motor race in all the world can match the excitement and drama of the Isle of Man. Run on public roads on the historical 37.75-mile “Mountain course,” the race has through the years seen some of the most famous motorcycle racers in history accept the challenge to add their name on the list of TT winners. It has also claimed the lives of many.
Avon Tyres, based in Melksham in the southwest of England, provided a select group of Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties sales reps the chance to accompany them to this historic event. The trip started with a stop in Dublin for a tour of the Guinness beer factory (yes, it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it), then over to the Isle of Man for the races, then to the cities of London and Bath, and finished up with a tour of the Avon factory in Melksham.
Avon’s Tom “Ski” Maslowski no doubt spoke for the group when he stated that it was “an experience of a lifetime.”

Semi-Pro racers Jonny Hentges, Bobby LePage, Chris Kafka, and Brett Bender each had their turn with the checkers, as every Hentges rider won at least one race. “It got to be a competition between the riders to see how many races they could win,” says team owner Nate Hentges. Kafka’s machine features Z1R helmet sponsorship. The team benefited from combining efforts with racing legend Tim Bender and his team. “He just helped immensely in bringing the whole thing together,” Hentges observed, “and it proved to be a great thing.” He also noted that Todd Wolff, another veteran racer, significantly assisted the team’s racers with technique and preparation.
