he GP-inspired and super-popular R-55 is the most recent premium sportbike exhaust Yoshimura has released. This system–offered in either Slip-On or Full-System configurations–has found a home on plenty of GSXR600’s and 750’s. Now add the YZF-R6 to that list. Yoshimura has just made the R-55 available for that bike as well, and it’s available in both the Slip-On and Full-System fitments.
The R-55 has been a winner right from the start. Featuring that brand-new GP-inspired muffler design with all of its sharp angles and aggressive race-bike looks, The R-55 dramatically lowers the center of gravity, adds a unique and pure-race look and the exhaust note is distinctively R-55. There’s nothing else like it. And it goes without saying that this exhaust is a performer. It’s from Yoshimura, the company that knows how to win.
The R-55 is racetrack hot and street ready. Everything starts with a distinctive new muffler shape and baffling system, and that unique style combines to deliver a very desirable tone. The R-55 sounds great, and it looks as good as it sounds. This is an all business, no foolin’ around, no fakin’ it exhaust upgrade. The R-55 is much lighter than the stock systems it replaces, too, and offered with a Stainless Steel endcap for the YZF-R6 this one stands out from the pack. The R-55 is developed to win. On the street or      on the track.
The R-55 Full System features a full stainless 4-into-1 header for optimum flow, horsepower and torque. The headers are secured to CNC machined manifolds with specially designed spring hooks for a perfect fit and easy installation or removal. Noise level concerns are addressed with a new center muffler design, which replaces the catalytic converter and reduces sound levels while also ensuring a free-flowing exhaust path. And for riders wanting just the radical style of the R-55 there’s the Slip-On system. It’s available offering all of the same quality and looks as the full system; the Slip-On attaches directly to the stock catalytic converter for a simple and quick enhancement in both looks and performance. Either way, everything’s included for a clean and easy installation, everything is Tig welded throughout and there’s a distinctive laser-etched logo for good measure. Of course re-jetting/re-mapping is highly recommended, as it always is whenever a free-flowing performance exhaust is installed.
GSXR600 and 750 rides have loved the R-55 right from its introduction. They still do. Now YZF-R6 riders can have all of those same benefits and features. There’s an R-55 for them now, too, and Parts Unlimited has it.
