hat would you pay for the hunting trip of a lifetime? Well, for one lucky Parts Unlimited dealer and their sales rep, it was as simple as doing something they do almost every day. Just place an order! In September of 2006, Moose Utility Division and Moose ATV Hunting Products introduced a Trophy Whitetail Deer Hunting incentive trip and it was a huge success! It was so successful that it provided Kevin Bodin of Saint Cloud Suzuki in Saint Cloud, Minnesota and his Parts Unlimited sales rep, Jeff Norlin, an opportunity to take an all expense paid journey to Alabama and hunt trophy whitetail deer with the professionals from Mossy Oak Camouflage.
Here’s how the program worked. Every time a Parts Unlimited dealer ordered $500 of Moose Utility Division or Moose ATV Hunting Products on this program between September 14th and December 1st, their dealership name was put into a random drawing for a chance to win the trip. The winning dealer’s sales rep was also included, so you can imagine how hard all the reps were working to get their dealer entries in.
The hunt took place in Camden, Alabama, which is located about an hour southwest of Montgomery. It’s in the heart of the South and also the home of Portland Landing, Mossy Oak Camouflage’s private hunting camp. With 17,000 acres of land and 150 miles of dirt roads, this truly is a hunter’s paradise.
On the property you’ll find over 150 hunting stands. Enough to guarantee you’ll never hunt out of the same spot twice. The hunting lodge can sleep 20 plus hunters and has all the accommodations needed. Three staff cooks prepare Southern, home-cooked meals that round out the experience of a lifetime.
Each morning hunters would arise to the smell of fresh coffee. Then, once all of their gear was prepared, they climbed into one of the trucks and headed out with a member of Mossy Oak. The morning consisted of getting in a stand while it was still dark and hunting until 10:00am. The hunters were then picked up and brought back for a big breakfast. After a belly full of food, everyone would relax and share stories about the morning hunt. The stories consisted of the deer, turkey and occasional wild pig that were sighted.
Around 2:00pm the hunters would prepare for an afternoon hunt in an entirely new location. Once picked up at dark, everyone would congregate back at camp. The afternoon hunts were more productive than the mornings so hunters would wait in anticipation to see if anyone had success. After the stories were told and the bragging rights established, it was time for another meal, a hot shower and some relaxation time.
The entire staff at Moose would personally like to thank all the dealers and reps that participated in this program. We would also like to thank Mossy Oak Camouflage for their great hospitality and partnership. Without them, this opportunity wouldn’t have been possible.
