t’s been a heck of a winter but it’s finally gone and the riding season is here. Service Departments are swamped with bikes and ATVs in for their pre-season once-overs, too. Now, every shop has its multi-point inspection program and religiously goes down that list checking off the service steps one-by-one. Here’s one more procedure you can add to that work order: a K&N Filter Cleaning. You’ll be doing your riders a favor and fattening up the service invoice at the same time. A K&N Filter Service as part of an overall service is a win/win situation.
A K&N High-Flow Air Filter, properly serviced, cleaned and re-oiled, is designed to last a lifetime. There’s even a Million-Mile Warranty for the street filters attesting to that. Servicing those K&Ns, then, is a logical after-sale step. In fact, you should probably recommend a K&N Filter Service Kit right along with every K&N High Flow Air Filter you sell. Some guys, of course, will always prefer having their service work done by a pro, so a filter service as part of an overall bike service makes perfect sense, too.
Start by suggesting a K&N Air Filter Service about every 15,000 miles. By then the filter will most likely need a good cleaning and re-oiling and that’s a nice interval to get a bike up on the table for a thorough inspection anyway. Build in a flat rate fee for cleaning and re-oiling that K&N Air Filter and do that very necessary service while the bike is going through all the other inspections and adjustments. It’ll add maybe 10 to 15-minutes of labor, total, and while the filter is drying from its cleaning and re-oiling you can attend to the rest of the service work. Which brings up one more Service Department profit potential from K&N, and that, of course, comes with the requisite oil-and-filter change. Make that include a K&N Performance Gold Oil Filter.
Synthetic oils are now the norm. They’re generally accepted as the premium-grade motorcycle lubricant. But do your customers know the real value of a K&N Performance Gold Oil Filter, a filter that’s been specifically designed to be compatible with these highly-concentrated synthetic oils? K&N’s Oil Filters are not only packed with 25-percent more filtration area, they’re manufactured using a man-made synthetic media as the filtering element. It doesn’t break down with the use of synthetic oil blends or even racing fuels like an ordinary paper-packed canister will. The K&N Performance Gold allows for higher flow rates, too.      That keeps a motor running free and smooth. This is a quality filter. It’s TUV endorsed and monitored throughout production. There’s that oversized filtering media, a heavy-duty canister, a double-rolled seal, a pre-lubed base seal, pressure relief valves where applicable and a check valve to prevent drain-back and dry starts. There’s even a handy 17mm nut welded on top for ease of installation and removal. A K&N Performance Gold Oil Filter is right there on price, too. It’s more than competitive with anything else on the shelf while standing head-and-shoulders above on features–especially when synthetic oils are involved.
Springtime is service time, and it’s K&N time, too. Parts Unlimited has everything you need here, from those High Flow Air Filters and Service Kits to the Performance Gold Oil Filters. The rest, as they say, is up to you.

Dealers, now that your service departments are filling up with bikes and ATVs getting ready for the riding season, this is the perfect time to suggest a K&N Filter Service as part of the service plan. Or, along with every K&N High Flow Air Filter you sell, send your customers home with a K&N Filter Service Kit. Make sure to include a K&N Performance Gold Oil Filter as a part of the package too. It’s a win/win situation!
