![]() Overlooking the Sea of Cortez less than a hundred miles from Cabo San Lucas on Day Six of my Baja adventure. You feel like you’re on a real adventure when you’re riding Baja. Sure, there are more technical places to ride, but what I like about Baja is the full experience that you get. If all you’re looking for is a tough track, then I’d say take up motocross. But if your motorcycling appetite includes a long day in the saddle on an ever-changing route, lunch stops for freshly caught shrimp on hand-made tortillas, gas refills from 5-gallon jugs, a few miles of riding after dark and great views of mountains and the sea, then Baja is something you should do at least once in your life. It was a very memorable experience, both in terms of the riding, and the most unique New Year’s Eve I’ve ever spent. They know how to bring in the new year in Cabo and it was great to be in the middle of that celebration. Be sure to check out our pictorial starting page __. In addition to my Baja report, this issue covers some other happenings in the dirt world as well. Like a few words with Ryan Villopoto, who already has one championship to his credit in 2007, the Supercross Lites West title. We’ve got his story, as well as features on Bridgestone Tires and Pro Circuit, two key elements of Villopoto’s race program. Event-wise, we’ve got pictorials on the recent Indy dealer show and the 2007 Montreal Motorcycle Show, a report from the kick-off event for the 2007 WORCS series, and a recap of the AMA Supercross series to date with an additional Pit Talk report from Steve Bruhn. And looking ahead, be sure to read the interview with Jonathan Beasley. He’s the promoter of this year’s Motocross des Nations to be held at Budds Creek right here in the USA. We almost had the “MXDN” in California a few years ago, but things fell apart at the last minute and it was cancelled. Beasley has the track and the experience to put on an International race that will make us all proud. Read all about it on page 56. And if you’re into hunting, check out our report on a new event put on by Moose, in association with Mossy Oak. A few lucky Parts Unlimited dealers with a hunting passion got a “fully loaded” outing recently. You’ll find that on page 44. As always there is a lot going on in the world of Parts Unlimited and we hope you enjoy this latest chapter in their ongoing story called “We Support The Sport.” |
