etting up for a cross-country tour isn’t an everyday thing. Setting up a Harley for that work-a-day commute or those nights out on the town, however, is an everyday thing. And even though the ride might only be a few miles long everyone has “stuff” to take along. That cell phone, the extra pair of clear glasses for the ride home, maybe some spare gloves or a sweatshirt. And if there’s a little lady coming along for the ride you know she’s going to have some necessities of her own. How do you carry all this, especially on a stripped-down Harley? Saddlemen has the answer. Plenty of them, as a matter of fact.
Start with something like the Drifter Handlebar Bag. It’s a classic. There’s plenty of function here, too. Measuring 13 1/2 x 7 x 7 it’s not so big as to be overpowering yet there’s plenty of room inside. The Drifter Handlebar Bag is all-weather ready, too. It’s made with a tough weather-resistant composite and leather and there are roller buckles backed with a zipper access. And the bag is versatile; a flat base lets it double as a rack bag. At $67.95 this one’s in anyone’s budget.
How about the Expandable Magnetic Tank Bag? Easy on/easy off, there’s even a recessed “tunnel” formed in the bottom to clear a Harley’s dash panel so the bag sits tight and looks right. There’s a hard shell with recesses in the top for an iPod or GPS and there’s a double-sided, removable clear map pocket. At 11 x 9 1/2 x 6 (expandable up to become 8-in. deep) there’s plenty of room, too.
Here’s another classic, the Deluxe Roll Bag. This one can look cool anywhere. Up on the handlebars, on a sissy bar, a rack, the seat, you name it. Six external D-rings leave the mounting options wide open and this one snaps right to the top of any SaddleStow Bag, too. Measuring a tidy 13 x 9 1/2 there’s plenty of room here with a large zippered horseshoe top opening for easy access. The interior is fully lined with two elastic-trimmed mesh pockets, there are zippered end pockets, a carry handle, a carry strap, a fitted raincover, removable sissy bar mounting system and quick-fit adjustable harnesses included. Rigid construction keeps it all looking good even when empty. $64.95 gets it.
The Montana Jr. Rack Bag, at 14 x 12 x 9, can work out great, too. Here’s a really convenient universal-mount bag for that day-to-day stuff and the entire top opens for easy access. There are large side-mesh pockets and a zippered front pocket, too. The price here is just $49.95.
Saddlemen’s small-sized FastBack is really handy. At 13 x 10 x 8 it’ll mount to the sissybar, luggage rack or back seat and there are two full side openings, each with zippered mesh pockets inside and large zippered pouches outside. The interior features an adjustable shelf/divider to keep things organized and a removable and adjustable padded backrest pad is included. $118.95 retail buys it.
Don’t overlook the Highwayman Elite Trunk Bags. They’re compact (14 x 9 1/2 x 10), they’re constructed of heavy-grain “elephant hide” PVC, they’re available in smooth and studded styles and there are quick-release, lockable chrome buckles for easy entry. There’s even a waterproof and lockable yoke zipper, padlocks included. $107.95 is the retail.
Every rider has “stuff” to pack around. Pack it in a Saddlemen. The bags look great, work better and Drag Specialties has them all.

Whether you’re going for a cross-country road trip or just a morning commute, Saddlemen has the answers for all your packing needs. Take a look in the FatBook and ask your Drag Specialties rep for more information on all that Saddlemen has to offer.
