&S Cycle has announced that Drag Specialties has completed their first S&S Distributor Training Course. This training course was held January 29th and 30th, 2007 at the S&S Training & Certification Facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Drag Specialties had 18 employees, including sales representatives, tech support personnel, and supervisors attend this initial training, with the balance of their sales force scheduled to complete the training course in the near future.
The S&S Distributor Training Course is designed to equip distributor representatives with important knowledge about Proven Performance® S&S components and engines. This is part of the ongoing effort by S&S to ensure the best possible service and advice to end users of S&S performance equipment. This course provides expert instruction to the attendees, helping them communicate the benefits of S&S products to their dealers.
"The overall training program at S&S is certainly going to be very beneficial to our entire company,” said Mark Anderson, Regional Sales Manager, Central U.S., for Drag Specialties. “The more education and familiarity with the product, the easier it is to sell; this training will help us communicate the benefits of S&S components to our dealers more effectively and allow us to sell more S&S parts. I’ve learned a lot myself this week and this kind of thing is super. In particular, the EPA issues are a huge topic right now and our eyes have been opened to what is really going on thanks to the expertise of the S&S staff.”
Timm Fields, Director of Sales & Marketing for S&S Cycle said: “S&S values our relationship with Drag Specialties and having them commit to our training program will be very positive for both of our organizations and our mutual customers. We are excited about the knowledge that will be shared with the dealer network regarding our Proven Performance products and we look forward to hearing from satisfied end users as a result of this training program.”

&S Cycle, Inc. has announced the completion of their online training & certification distance learning tests. These tests are available through the secure S&S dealer portal. They are a prerequisite for all dealer representatives who will be attending S&S Training & Certification courses, effective immediately.
These distance learning tests consist of topics from the S&S training DVDs and instruction sheets covering S&S Carburetors, IST Ignition System, and Quick Set-Up Kit™ products. A series of random, multiple- choice questions will be presented for each of the three tests covering the products mentioned above. Students will have 10 minutes to complete 15 questions and must score 85% (13 out of 15 correct) to qualify for admittance to the certification courses. Results of the test, in the form of a percentage of correct answers, will be presented to the student upon submittal of a given test while online.
"We are very focused on providing the best training possible for our dealers,” said Timm Fields, Director of Sales & Marketing. “This training initiative is designed to prepare students for a positive learning experience at our facility. The online exam will encourage students to be properly prepared before attending class, but also ensure a common base of knowledge for attendees and therefore enhance the training experience. It is another step in our campaign to ensure that our dealer network is properly educated so consumers who purchase our products get the best advice and support possible.”
Questions about this program or any training questions in general should be directed to train@sscycle.com or phone the training department at 608-627-1527. S&S offers expert training to their customer base, including dealers and distributors, as well as consumer training for v-twin enthusiasts. enior Vice President & Chief Styling Officer of Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Willie G. Davidson, will be the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance in Half Moon Bay, California.
Known as “Willie G.” within the industry and to his many fans, the motorcycle icon is the grandson of William A. Davidson, one of the pioneers of the fabled American brand founded in 1903. More importantly, Willie G. Davidson is one of the 13 employees that bought the company back from conglomerate AMF in 1981, saved it from financial ruin, and guided it to unprecedented prosperity.
Widely credited for invigorating product design at the venerable Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based company, Davidson introduced the FX Super Glide model in 1971 as a response to the customizing craze taking place in America. The result was an instant hit and the ushering in of a new class of motorcycle: the cruiser.
“We feel extremely privileged to be able to honor Willie G. with this award”, says Concours co-founder Brooke Roner. “He is a living legend recognized the world over, and as the face of not just a motorcycle but a lifestyle, he exemplifies core values of motorcycling – innovation, individuality and freedom.”
Each year a person who has made an invaluable contribution to the world of motorcycling is selected to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The trophy presented to this recipient – which some have dubbed the Oscar™ of motorcycling – is the signature God of Speed™ bronze sculpture. Mr. Davidson will be presented with this award on stage at the Concours on May 5th.
The second annual international Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance will take place the first Saturday in May at the breathtaking ocean-side Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, California, just south of San Francisco.
