sk any group of V-twin riders what the most important parts of their bike are, and you’ll get pretty much the same answers–engine, pipes, wheels, brakes, tires. That list ends at least one item too soon, though, when you consider that without throttle cables that engine won’t
run, and without a clutch cable the bike isn’t going anywhere.
While most riders might not appreciate this, Motion Pro does,
which is why they make cables as if they were one of the mostimportant parts of a bike–because they are.
Motion Pro got started in the cable business more than 20 years ago making cables for dirttrack racers. On the mile and half-mile tracks a broken cable doesn’t just mean calling someone for a ride home, it can mean the end of a season-long battle for points. Second-rate parts don’t last long in racing, so it’s a testament to their commitment to quality and performance that even today Motion Pro cables are still the choice of racers like multi-time Grand National Champion Chris Carr. You can see the lessons Motion Pro learned on the race track–make it fit,
make it out of the best materials, and make it last–in every cable in its V-twin line-up, including the two newest styles, Argent and Blackout.
Argent cables feature a silver textile weave that looks like braided stainless steel but is less expensive and easier to bend, making routing the cable through tight spaces and around sharp
bends less of a chore. A clear Armor Coat protects painted and chromed surfaces from abrasion, and the metal fittings are all
chrome plated.
Blackout cables are a Motion Pro first, and the perfect choice for customs and bobbers with that back-to-basics look. The cable fittings are black anodized, and the cable itself is covered
with black vinyl.
Motion Pro is also incorporating longitudinally wound (LW) technology in both Blackout and Argent clutch cables. Traditional motorcycle cables use a single strand of coil-wound (CW) wire to form their outer housing. But Motion Pro’s LW cables use multiple strands of wire running the length of the cable. You can’t see the difference from the outside, but it’s there–LW cables don’t compress or feel mushy under load, and the inner wire won’t bind when going around sharp bends.
It goes without saying that you can’t sell cables if you don’t stock them, but there’s more to it than that. Remember that part about how the bike won’t run without cables? That’s true of accessory sales, too. Not all bikes are created equal, and even those that are don’t stay that way for long. That’s why Motion Pro cables come in standard, plus, and minus lengths for custom applications. Whether your customer wants ape-hangers that need longer cables, or drag bars that require shorter cables, Motion Pro has them, and stocking some of each means you won’t lose a big accessory sale just because you don’t have the parts to complete the job.
All Motion Pro cables meet or exceed OEM specifications, and come in the widest range of applications anywhere, from stock replacement cables to longer and shorter cables for custom applications. All Blackout and Argent cables come with premium fittings appropriate to the style, chromed on Argent cables and black-anodized on Blackouts.
Missing a cable sale not only costs you money, it can cost your customer a big ride, or your service department a big job. Motion Pro got its start at the track, and continues its winning ways more than 20 years later. Stock a full selection of Motion Pro cables and be there for the victory party.
