n the early days of customizing, bikes were daily riders that also looked good. Then gradually the trend toward leaner, more Spartan customs put an end to that practicality, making them unsuitable for any ride longer than a tank of gas, and only then in the best weather, and without a passenger. Now the pendulum is swinging back the other way as riders demand bikes that not only look good, but are practical, and capable of carrying a rider and passenger in comfort, and packing their gear along, too. That’s why you see so many more custom baggers these days, and why you need to check out Cycle Visions’ line-up of custom accessories for baggers.
Cycle Visions’ newest product is for Softail riders who want the convenience of FLHstyle fiberglass or leather saddlebags. The Bagger-Tail (patent pending) consists of several brackets, available in black or chrome.
They bolt onto any Softail model quickly–the whole job takes about half an hour–without modifications to the bike. Once the brackets are installed, add a pair of fiberglass or leather saddlebags and get the style of a Softail with the luggage capacity of a bagger. The Bagger-Tail kit must be used with low pipes to provide clearance forthe right saddlebag–any pipe that’s lower than the center of the rear axle will do. Cycle Visions makes Filler Panels to fill in that unsightly gap between the hard bags and the fender on FLH models as well as Bagger-Tailequipped Softails. The full-radius panels are made of 16-gauge steel and come in a raw finish so you can paint them to match. There’s also a set of Filler Panels for FLT models with hard bags (except Detachables).      They’re made of fiberglass and come in gray gelcoat, ready for painting. Minor frame modifications are necessary when installing the FLT panels, so installation by an experienced mechanic is recommended. It’s a shame to clutter up the otherwise clean rear end of a bagger with taillights and turn signals. Cycle Visions’ Eliminator taillight reduces clutter by combining several lighting functions into a single unit. The Eliminator replaces the existing taillight, turn signal assembly, and license-plate mount. It covers all the existing mounting holes in the fender so no painting or filling is needed, and it comes with plug-in wiring for a quick and easy installation. It’s made of aluminum and comes in chrome or polished finishes. The LED lights are not only cooler and better looking, but brighter for added safety, as well as style. The Eliminator now fits all Harley- Davidson models through 2007. Here’s another way to clean up rear-end clutter–Ricco Bag Lites from Cycle Visions.      These weather-tight rectangular lights come with a controller that ties them in to the running lights, brake lights, and turn signals. When you flick on the turn signals, they flash amber. Hit the brakes lights, and they automatically glow red. They work in conjunction with existing running lights and turn signals, and fit on the back of saddlebags or any other flat surface–a fender, a Tour Pak, you name it. Here’s a Cycle Visions product that will light up your bike’s engine–the new Mo-Flow air cleaner. Available exclusively from Drag Specialties, the Mo-Flow has been flow-bench-tested to flow better than anything else on the market. It’s made of aluminum with a chrome finish, and feature hidden fasteners and an internal breather tube for a clean look. The Mo-Flow comes with an Air Aide reusable, washable filter, engineered and flow-tested for maximum flow and engine protection. The cover is the new Dual Runner style, with two other styles coming out next year. Mo-Flow air cleaner kits come complete with a leakproof O-ring-sealed breather assembly, a velocity plate, and all necessary mounting hardware. Be sure to check out Cycle Visions’ island booth, near Drag Specialties, at the Cincinnati show, and check out the accessories that’ll help you meet the growing demand for stylish and practical custom baggers.
