he Avon Azaro AV45/46STs were a favorite upgrade for sport-touring Harleys and of course for the Buells. The Storm ST, just released, takes all that and bumps it up by more than just a little. The Storm STs offer a greatly improved wet weather grip, there’s a new and more rounded profile for the front tire that really enhances the handling and better resists cupping and the Storm ST comes with an all-new new and improved high-mileage tread design. The AV45/46STs were a sporting Harley and Buell rider’s favorite. They have a worthy successor in the Storm ST.
There’s plenty of Avon’s latest technology at work here. Along with that improved wet-weather grip, the new profile and the redesigned, high-mileage tread pattern Avon has given the Storm ST what’s called a “Reactive Footprint.” Simply put, the tire’s contact patch changes size and shape depending on lean angle–and does it for the life of the tire. With Reactive Footprint (RF) the contact patch actually grows in size the further the bike is leaned into a turn. You get the same high grip through the corners that you have in the straights. The Storm ST also has Avon’s Inverted Front Grooves (IFG) to resist stepped-wear and cupping to ensure smooth handling, a great ride and improved wet-weather braking. The Storm’s Enhanced Aqua Flow (EAF) tread pattern does its part to optimize the wet-weather running, too. At the core of all this is Avon’s Advanced Variable Belt Density (A-VBD) carcass construction, a system of closely wound Aramid fibers in the center tread for enhanced straight-up stability, and spaced fibers at the shoulders for an improved contact patch at high lean angles. The carcass, sidewall and tread pattern work in harmony, evenly distributing stresses throughout the tire to eliminate localized flexing for even more grip, stability and reduced tread wear.
Avon has included its SRS (Super Rich Silica) compounding here, as well. The Storm ST warms up fast for a sure-footed grip and the high silica content delivers that grip in all conditions, wet or dry. The Storm ST carries Avon’s Road Hazard Warranty protection, too. During the first millimeter of tread wear Avon will replace the tire if it’s accidentally punctured.
The Storm STs are available now, offered in sizes to fit all the Buells from 1996 on. There’s one that’s perfectly sized for the Deuce, too. Riders have always raved about their Avons. They’ll have plenty more to love with the Storm STs, and Drag Specialties has them now.

Avon’s new Storm STs are sure to be a hit with your sport-touring Harley and Buell customers. Specially designed for the ultimate in all-weather handling, mileage and stability, the new Storm STs have all of Avon’s latest technology at work. Available now from Drag Specialties!
