The year 2006 strengthened relationships between SuperTrapp and notable industry legends, including Bill Werner and Tom Carlson. Each worked with the company to develop performance exhausts for a variety of applications. In the spring and summer of 2006, SuperTrapp added to its lineup of power, performance and style: In April 2006, SuperTrapp renewed its relationship with flat track tuning legend Bill Werner. Werner notably tuned machines for Gary Scott, Jay Springsteen and Scott Parker before retiring from the racing circuit. This past summer Werner was instrumental in designing two SuperTrapp racing exhausts for the Honda CRF 450, a high pipe (#815-3450) and a low pipe (#815-3452). These new exhausts offer the same performance optimization and tunability riders expect from Werner-designed SuperTrapp exhausts. Werner, who has used SuperTrapp products since the late ‘70s said, “I’ve always been impressed with the quality and performance gains of SuperTrapp exhausts. Their unique disc system offers instant tunability. It takes only minutes to make some adjustments that result in a significant power boost to the motorcycle.” In the ‘06 racing season SuperTrapp was the official exhaust sponsor to TC (Tom Carlson) Racing. Carlson, who has been building engines for more than 27 years, developed the SuperTrapp TCR Series exhaust. Noted for its output in broad power delivery the TCR Series features SuperTrapp’s patented tunable disc technology. Tunable discs allow riders to increase flow and peak horsepower or increase low-end torque and reduce sound. “Sound issues grow louder every day,” said Carlson. “The good thing about tunable discs is that they offer the rider an opportunity to personalize his exhaust, and temper the sound when it’s necessary to do so.” Introduced this spring, the SuperTrapp TCR Series exhaust also features a stepped-headpipe system, which allows the rider to maintain broad power delivery throughout the powerband. Available for Yamaha YFZ450 (#865-4450), Honda TRX450 (#865-3450), and Suzuki LTZ450 (#865-4450), the TCR Series is also quieter than most pipes on the circuit. It may be quiet, but it’s still deadly in the performance department. Carlson promises the exhaust delivers acceleration power that will, in his words, “rip your arms right off.” Working with legends in the industry is a great way to develop new exhaust products, but it has not displaced SuperTrapp’s internal commitment and investment in new product development and engineering. Engineered for ATVs, in fall 2006 SuperTrapp introduced the new IDSX Slip On for the Arctic Cat 500 4x4 (#835-9500) and the Arctic Cat 400 4x4 (#835-9400). Durable and lightweight, the IDSX Series Slip On is made for big bore utility vehicles in need of more low-end torque that is at or near stock sound levels. This series is made entirely of stainless steel with an internal disc design that functions as a U.S.F.S.-approved spark arrestor. The disc design keeps mud and debris from clogging the discs, while the extended turndown outlet keeps exhaust away from plastic body parts. Thanks to relationships with veteran tuners, 2006 was a year full of great new products for SuperTrapp. There’s more to come in 2007! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
