This past July, MotoGP once again returned to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in beautiful Monterey, CA. In addition to the MotoGP bikes, the weekend’s race calendar also included the Superbike, Supersport, Superstock and Formula Xtreme classes.
     In an odd departure from the normally temperate California coastal weather, temperatures over the weekend reached record highs, creating problems for racers and fans alike. Despite the uncomfortable weather conditions, the weekend was a success on the track, offering up plenty of great racing action. And Parts Unlimited was right in the thick of it all, both on and off the track. Check out some of the highlights from this fantastic weekend…

Eventual winner Nicky Hayden leads Kenny Roberts, Jr. in the 2006 Red Bull United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.

There was a sea of motorcycles in just about every direction at Laguna Seca this year.

The Parts Unlimited Ducati’s stand ready for action at Laguna for the last time. Ducati won’t be returning to racing in the U.S. in 2007.

Erion Honda’s Josh Hayes claimed the 3rd podium spot in the Formula Xtreme class.
With the new parking rules in effect, many more attendees opted to ride bikes into the track this year.

The Parts Unlimited Hospitality Area offered guests a great place to watch the races, enjoy some good food, a cold beverage and an escape from the blazing heat!

Turn 5 of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was Parts Unlimited central. The Hospitality Area had a fantastic view of the track!

Yamaha once again hosted their “Weekend of Champions” event at Laguna Seca. They had many of their racing legends from the past and present on hand to sign autographs for the fans.

Dunlop hosted a dinner event at the famous “Tarpy’s” restaurant in Monterey during the Laguna Seca race weekend.

On Thursday night, AGV held their 2nd Annual “Night With Valentino Rossi,” an invite-only event for a select group of Parts Unlimited reps and dealers. Check out page 78 to learn more about this fantastic event and how you can win a trip to next year’s event.

Yamaha’s Eric Bostrom was the winner in the Formula Xtreme class at Laguna.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s Ben Spies took home the checkers in the Superbike class at Laguna.


Rocket Rob gives Laguna Seca a thumbs up!


Parts Unlimited threw a big party in the Hospitality Area with tons of food and drinks, plus product giveaways from some of their vendors.

Kenny Roberts, Jr. leads Valentino Rossi in the MotoGP. Rossi unfortunately DNF’d due to a mechanical problem.

Temperatures reached into the 100s over the weekend. Even with the record setting Monterey heat, the fans were out in full force!
