ou know your customers, all the off-road regulars. Some might come in only when they have to. This is the crowd stopping by only when something’s broken and they’re looking for a quick fix that doesn’t cost a lot. To these guys performance means the motorcycle starts when they give that lever a kick and it goes when they drop it in gear and let out the clutch. End of discussion. That’s why you keep that selection of low-price generic replacements in stock. That’s all some riders will ever buy.
Then, there are all the others. These are your customers who define performance just a little differently. They read all the magazines, they devour all the ads, they watch all the racing on TV. When they head out to the track or trail themselves they want to know they have best of everything. The best bike, the best riding gear, the best helmet and all the latest and greatest performance add-ons. They want the same stuff the pros have–and when these guys start asking about filters, exhaust or anything else that equates to engine performance, this is when you start talking about K&N Filters. These are the customers who’ll appreciate the difference, understand the benefits, and be willing to pay that little bit extra for it.
K&N Filters and performance off-road bikes are made for each other. K&N got its start more than 35 years ago developing high-flow/high-filtration air filters for desert racing. Today there’s a K&N Filter for just about any off-road application you can name, and everything K&N makes–the High-Flow Air-Filters, the Oil Filters and even the Breather Filters are all perfect for the extreme conditions of track, trail and serious motocross. Those High-Flow Air Filters allow for improved flow, increased throttle response, higher revving RPMs and improved filtration. They fit right inside the factory air boxes, too. It’s an easy swap with a big payoff. And there are always new and exciting additions to the K&N lineup, things like the two-piece X Stream Top for the Honda CRFs, Suzuki RMZs, Yamaha YZFs and coming soon with a fitment for the Kawasaki KXFs. This filter kit is a welcome addition to the 4-stroke performance arsenal. K&N’s two-piece design makes the cleaning and servicing easy, too. With the top removed you can just squeeze the filter’s sides together to slide it in and out between the frame rails and right into the air-box with a perfect seal every time. There’s even a built-in protective backfire screen that’s part of the deal.
So, definitely show all the K&Ns to the riders who’ll appreciate it. You know who they are. They’re the riders who know the real meaning of the word performance, and make sure they know what a good deal a K&N is, too. You could buy-up, use-up and throw-out a full carton of foam filters before you’d have to replace a K&N; properly cleaned and re-oiled a K&N High-Flow Air Filter will last a long, long time flowing and filtering at peak efficiency all the while.
Show those performance customers all the K&N Clamp-On Filters for their little pit-bikes, too. They’ll put one on there just because it looks cool! Remind them that if it doesn’t say K&N then it’s not the real deal and it’s all in the Parts Unlimited catalogs so take a look.
