Matt Hotch opened HotMatch Custom Cycles in 1997, and reinvented the business as Matt Hotch Designs in 2005.

att Hotch Designs, located in downtown Fullerton, California, produces some of the world’s finest and most innovative custom motorcycles. Matt Hotch opened HotMatch Custom Cycles in 1997 and reinvented his business as Matt Hotch Designs in 2005. Each Matt Hotch Design is handcrafted one at a time by Master Builder and Craftsman, Matt Hotch. Hotch is a two-time Grand Champion of Discovery’s Biker Build-Off, and is known worldwide for producing some of the most famous show bikes the motorcycle industry has ever seen.
Hotch is also considered one of the true artists of the builder culture. So much so, that his clients are willing to pay big dollars for one of his creations as well as add their names to a very long waiting list. “I reincorporated as Matt Hotch Designs for a lot of reasons,” says Matt, “but a big reason was so I could focus on building bikes again. I’m still producing custom parts and enjoy that, but my first love is building bikes. I’m very lucky because I’ve reached a point where I can pick and choose who I want to build a bike for and what I want to build. So anything I can dream up, I get to build. It’s cool, it’s fun, and it’s my art.”
All of the equipment used to manufacture a Matt Hotch Designs custom chopper is custom made for Matt, providing him the ability to produce each piece to his exacting standards and personal vision for each bike. Matt Hotch Designs combines this superior technological advantage with strategic partnerships with the industry’s premier motor, drivetrain, wheel and brake manufacturers. In the end, a Matt Hotch Designs bike is a rolling, running piece of artwork that is also a very reliable custom motorcycle. Clients are more then willing to pay $200,000 and up for one of Matt’s customs.
It is Matt’s commitment to his clients along with the pursuit of perfection that continues to separate his motorcycles from the rest. Matt Hotch Designs duplicates Matt’s vision with a line of innovative custom accessories that is distributed to builders and enthusiasts through Drag Specialties.

Each Matt Hotch Designs creation is designed with custom chopper parts made especially for Matt, allowing him to achieve his personal vision for each bike.

Hotch limits production to two to four bikes per year, which allows him to devote full attention to every project. The result is a custom motorcycle that far surpasses any customer’s expectation. Matt is an artist, an innovator and can also be considered an inventor. “Inventing is fun,” says Matt, “but the patent and protection process is expensive and difficult to do. I really enjoy the creative part, but it’s discouraging when people steal your ideas anyway. Right now there are a lot of companies knocking off my parts. Sometimes it stops me from releasing new products. So what I do is make my products the best possible way I can regardless of price, and most people are willing to pay for the superior quality product to put on their bike because then they know there will be no problems. That’s what I like about Drag Specialties, they won’t bring in anything that infringes on my designs or anyone else’s, and they have honor, which is hard to find in this industry anymore.”
Matt Hotch has been part of the Drag family for many years and Drag Specialties is proud to have him. The trust Matt holds for Drag goes both ways. “Drag has been unbelievably good to me and my business. Drag Specialties takes care of you far better then any other company I’ve ever worked with. I deal with a lot of distributors and a lot of companies that don’t do it right. Drag are the good guys and they keep their word. They’re people I like to associate my business with, and the best company to deal with, period.”
Matt Hotch Designs is not a new company for Drag, but more of a renewed company with Drag. What does the future hold for Matt Hotch Designs? “Basically,” says Matt, “I’m going to focus on building a few ground breaking bikes a year, and focus on developing innovative new products that will be brought to market through Drag Specialties!”

While a full Matt Hotch custom may be out of your customer’s price range, Matt Hotch Designs’ innovative line of custom accessories is available through Drag Specialties.
