since "Pops" Yoshimura started the company way back
in 1954 working out of a tiny shop in Japan, the Yoshimura reputation
has grown by leaps and bounds. The pipes that Pops Yoshimura built
gained a diehard following for one, simple reason: they made power
and helped make winners on the racetrack. By the 1970s Yoshimura
R&D was a worldwide force, one of the largest exhaust-system
manufacturers on the planet. Over the years Yoshimura's
formula for success remained just as simple as the reason the pipes
were so well accepted. "Concentrate on nothing but performance,
quality, and fit," Pops said, "and the business will
come."
Fast forward to the present. The Yoshimura devotion to racing and
winning is as strong as ever. At Yoshimura the product comes first,
business second, and that philosophy has fueled a phenomenal success
in what is probably the most competitive segment of the aftermarket.
And the winning Yoshimura pipes and mufflers keep coming.
The RS-2 Off-Road systems, just released for the 2006 season, are
the latest examples of this company's continuing attention
to detail and passion for perfection. The RS-2, offered in a full-titanium
Pro-Series configuration and an economical Stainless Steel Comp-Series
both feature a new 2-stage baffle that makes plenty of power without
making plenty of noise. They both feature a newly redesigned muffler
shape allowing for more packing material and that lower decibel
level with no sacrifice in free-flowing performance, and they both
feature a new tapered front cap allowing the muffler mass to be
moved forward on the bike to better center the weight of the entire
system, and all of this - on both the RS-2 Pro and RS-2 Comp
exhausts - is mounted with new and improved high-strength brackets.
The Pro-Series RS-2 systems are destined to become a serious racer's
favorite. The Pro-Series exhausts are painstakingly crafted with
lightweight, ultra-strong titanium and the headpipe, inlet cap
and 1-piece lightweight endcap are all Tig-welded. The RS-2 Pro-Series
exhaust offers riders a choice of muffler sleeves, too, either
titanium or high-tech carbon fiber. The RS-2 Pro-Series, with either
the titanium or that carbon-fiber muffler, is a no-compromise system.
Riders and racers won't be disappointed; the new RS-2 Pro-Series
system is the system of choice for Factory Honda's Motocross
and Supercross race team as well as WBR Suzuki. "Concentrate
on nothing but performance," Pops Yoshimura preached, and
every bit of that top-line performance is here.
The same level of RS-2 performance is offered in a lower-cost stainless
steel version. Not every rider has the budget of a factory team,
so Yoshimura has duplicated the Pro Series titanium system in wallet
friendly stainless steel. Aside from weighing a few more pounds
than the titanium, nothing else has changed. The RS-2 Comp-Series
system has the same pipe shapes, sizes and bends, the same new
muffler profile with added packing and with the Comp-Series RS-2
the endcap is a 2-piece design allowing the installation of Yoshimura's
TEC insert making this system quiet enough to please even the sharpest-eared
Forest Ranger. The Comp-Series RS-2 offers an aluminum muffler
sleeve, too.
Since 1954 Yoshimura's formula for
success has stayed the same: Never compromise the product. The
new RS-2 exhausts, Pro-Series and Comp, are the latest proof that
this company continues to honor its roots. The new pipes are available
in applications for all the bikes that need them, and they're all
available through Parts Unlimited. |
