unlop
has more Sport Bike and High Performance tire options than ever, and
this year Parts Unlimited carries them all. Whether a customer is looking
at tires for serious racing, track day action, super-sport street riding
or long-distance sport touring this season, Dunlop has a High Performance
Sport Radial for them.
Racing?
The legendary Sportmax GP, the same tire used by AMA road-racing National
Champions is now offered through Parts Unlimited. This is pro-quality
stuff, DOT-approved. The Sportmax GP is stable, predictable and significantly
enhances cornering grip. A multi-compound rear tire couples a tough,
cool-running center compound for straight-up stability and traction with
an outer compound formulated to enhance leaned-over traction. The Sportmax
GP’s tread pattern is great in the wet and sacrifices nothing in
dry-surface performance. This is a winner’s race tire, and Parts
Unlimited has it.
Supersport and track days? The D208GP Supersport
was developed and manufactured in the USA, specifically for riders and racers
in the USA. These Dunlops are now available in a couple of compounds, too, soft
or medium to better match tire performance to track conditions. Either way, these
are race-tire compound coupled with a track-going profile. It adds up to unparalleled
grip, great drive out of corners, quick and nimble steering and super
handling overall. And the D208GP is comfortable. The carcass and construction
deliver increased bump absorption for a smooth ride and a forgiving nature.
Parts Unlimited has this one, too.
Super
street? The brand-new Dunlop Qualifier is tough to beat. It’s
virtually a pure-race tire adapted to the street. A worthy successor
to the D208ZR Sport Radial, the Qualifier offers true racetrack-level
grip and performance in a tire perfectly at home on the highways. The
Qualifier’s rear tire compound blends three of Dunlop’s race-developed
polymers to maximize grip and warm up quickly, and a race-derived front
tire profile allows lightning quick turn-ins and lighter steering. All
of this comes with larger footprints at maximum lean angles and Dunlop
has lightened up the Qualifier to reduce unsprung weight. A next-generation
cosecant-curve tread pattern keeps driving and braking forces aligned
under cornering and the stickier Qualifier even heats up faster than
the D208ZR yet carries no more carcass heat; tread life is about equivalent
while delivering a significantly higher level of performance. It’s
available at Parts Unlimited now.
Parts
Unlimited has the brand-new D616 Radial Performance Street & Sport
Dunlop, too. This radically new Sport Radial is built with looks and
performance to run anywhere, any time. The D616’s aggressive tread
pattern was derived from Dunlop’s wet-track road-racing designs
and the front tire incorporates Dunlop’s Aramid breaker tread reinforcement
and radial casing technology for excellent steering response and cornering
stability. The rear combines Jointless Band (JLB) construction with Dunlop’s
CTCS (Carcass Tension Control System) for enhanced cornering and wear
performance, high-speed stability and exceptional tire compliance. The
D616 is one heck of a Sport Bike street tire.
And
the tried-and-true D220 Radial Performance Touring/Sport Dunlop rounds
out this ‘06 lineup. It’s available in a full range of sizes
to fit most radial-equipped Sport- and Sport-Touring bikes. It’s
also offered in sizes for metric power cruisers like the Kawasaki Mean
Streak and Yamaha Warrior. The D220 tread pattern is great in wet weather
conditions, the tires are durable and the rubber compounds deliver excellent
wear resistance. The D220 rear tire even features Dunlop’s Jointless
Band (JLB) construction for high-speed stability.
That’s
quite a Sport Bike Radial lineup, and this year it’s
all available through Parts Unlimited. This season Dunlop really is Sport
Bike Central!
