helmet in 1948, starting of course with leather helmets, and only
five years later, in 1953, became the very first manufacturer of fiberglass
vulcanized helmets. In 1985, Nelson Piquet competed in the Formula 1
World Championship with a brand-new Kevlar/Dupont fiberglass full-face
AGV helmet. As a matter of fact, the list of riders and drivers who have raced and won wearing AGV helmets is long and distinguished, including such riders as Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts, Johnny Cecotto, Angel Nieto, Marco Lucchinelli, Franco Uncini, Fausto Gresini, Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi, Randy Mamola, Luca Cadalora, and current MotoGP superstar Valentino Rossi. Working with these legendary competitors has not only brought more than 130 World Championship Titles to AGV, but also the definitive establishment of the AGV brand on a world scale. In 2002, AGV acquired Lazer Helmets, and now the IMAG Group together with AGV, MDS and LAZER is the fourth worldwide producer within the sport helmet market. Now, with the introduction of the AGV Miglia Modular Helmet, AGV has reached a new plateau. The helmet features a lightweight, high-resistance, thermoplastic resin shell, front and top air intakes with rear extractors, dry-comfort lining, removable and washable padding, an anti-scratch Modular 1 visor, and a quick-release buckle for emergencies. But what makes the Miglia really special is how convenient its design is. The front of the helmet can be opened easily with one hand by pressing a single button located inside the chin bar. Then the front of the helmet opens on a metal hinge and latches shut with a metal-on-metal latch and catch (no plastic). The flush hinge area, flush shield and full neck roll help reduce the wind noise. The visor is available in light smoke, mirror, and blue mirror, in addition to the standard clear, and the helmet itself is available in a wide array of colors.
