ave you taken a look at Hooker exhausts lately? You might be surprised at what you find, and really be surprised when you open that box for the first time. The quality here is spectacular. Everything’s included, and from the thickness of the pipe tubes themselves to the chrome plating to the chromed mounting flanges and C-clips it’s all there and all first-rate. Hooker’s Harley-Davidson pipes look great and they fit great. More than that, they work great, because at Hooker Headers performance is king. It’s been that way since way back in 1962 when Gary Hooker designed his first set of headers for a 409 Chevy.
Hookers for Harleys are nothing new, either. All through the ‘70s Hooker was a dominant force in the bike market, with Hooker Headers tearing it up on drag strips from coast to coast. By the mid ‘90s Hooker had developed a full line of street pipes that set new standards for quality and performance in the motorcycle industry. All that continues on with the introduction of the Troublemaker, the newest system from Hooker featuring that big, 2 1/2-inch look.
Hooker’s Troublemaker is one swoopy, ultra-custom set of pipes. These exhausts have that big-pipe look so popular now, getting it with one-piece, full-length 2 1/2-inch heat shields. And like every other Hooker Harley exhaust the Troublemaker features Hooker’s stepped-header design, a power-pumping exhaust technology Hooker has been using since 1996, “years before stepped pipes were cool!” they say. Hooker Headers, the new Troublemaker included, provide great performance over a broad power curve and do it with style and sound. Hooker’s mission is and always has been simple: No. 1, the pipes have to make power; they’re not there just for looks. And these guys aren’t kidding about that power part. Every Hooker Harley exhaust is available in two different sizes of pipe diameter specific to the application. There’s one set of those step-tuned Hookers sized and tuned for engines up to 96 cubic inches, another larger diameter set is offered for the big-displacement motors. The lineup is extensive. And No. 2, the overall appearance of all this is pretty important, too. Every Hooker Header looks right and fits right, with particular attention paid to how those pipes flow with the lines of the bike.
And did you know that every Hooker Harley exhaust features Metallic Ceramic Coating inside and out? They do.      That ceramic coating does a great job protecting the heat shields from bluing, and does an even better job keeping the heat where it’ll do the most to increase the exhaust flow and velocity for maximum horsepower. All Hooker pipes come with muffler cartridges that deliver a deep rumble, with optional cartridges available for a smooth and mellow tone or slightly louder with improved flow. They all interchange; a single screw securely holds the cartridges in place.
Take a good look at the new Hooker Troublemaker. In fact, take a good look at everything Hooker’s got. Do it in person, too, don’t just rely on a picture. Once you see what Hooker has, actually getting your hands on these pipes, you’ll be sold. Your customers will be, too. The full lineup of Hooker Troublemakers and Step Tuned Flow Pipes are available through Drag Specialties.
