DP Clutches direct replacement friction plates are ready to go right out of the box…no need to pre-soak. Developed using cutting-edge friction materials, the friction discs in these DP clutch sets work equally well in both wet and dry applications.

P Brakes are already a Harley staple. Those replacement DP Original Sintered Pads, the Sintered Sport HH+ Pads and the RDP Racing Pads that were developed with the help of top factory-works teams worldwide are all a huge upgrade from any OE factory brake pad they replace. DP Brakes has decades of experience in compound formulations; couple that with manufacturing techniques that employ such things as integral ceramic backings to keep the heat away from the caliper pistons and brake fluid and it all adds up to replacement brake pads that bite hard and stop fast. You’ve known that and relied on DP Brakes for years.
Now that same DP expertise is available for that other friction-intensive area on a Harley–its clutch. The DP Clutches replacement friction plates and steels do for a Harley’s clutch action and performance what those brake pads have done for the stopping performance. The DP Harley clutches are specifically designed to grab tight with a slip- and fade-free operation. They’ll enhance gear shifts both up and down, and these clutch frictions and steels will last–up to 7 times longer than stock.
The DP Clutch components, both the frictions and steels, are direct replacements. They’ll slip right into an OE Harley clutch basket and use the OE Harley springs. Everything’s been designed to provide a real improvement across the board, though, and because of DP’s extensive background developing cutting-edge friction materials the friction discs in these clutch sets are able to work equally well in either wet or dry applications. In a standard wet application there’s no need to pre-soak these frictions before installation, either. They’re ready to go right out of the case. And speaking about that case, the DP Clutches are packaged in some pretty high-quality plastic containers that definitely look good on the shelf. There’s little question about quality being included here; it starts with that packaging.
Paired with those ready-to-go/no-need-to-pre-soak friction plates, the DP steels complete the upgrade. These steels won’t swell or distort like lesser-quality aluminum parts might, and that helps spell the end to clutch fade. The increased weight of those DP steels, versus the stock plates they so neatly replace, adds just that much more flywheel effect, too; with this clutch set you get improved takeoffs you can feel.
Extensive testing has already proven the worth of all this. The Capitol Police in Washington D.C., for example, haven’t looked back since making the switch to DP Clutches. They’re even using them in their training bikes, workhorse Harleys ridden morning till night 5 days a week by novice motor patrolmen really tough on the clutch. The DP replacements showed immediate and marked improvements. The techs at Capitol Police were replacing clutches in those bikes with as little as 6 hours riding time on them. Not anymore. The DP Clutches outlasted anything they’d tried before, by their calculations lasted a whopping 7 times longer with exceptional performance overall.
DP Clutches replacements, both frictions and steels, are available for direct fitment in all Big Twin Harleys for 1941 to current-year models, and they’re available for Sportsters from 1957 on. Drag Specialties carries them all, and they’re all in stock and available right now.
