oshimura
has done it again. Okay, so it's Mat Mladin and Aaron Yates
that have done it again, but it's a safe bet they wouldn't
have without help from Yoshimura R&D. Mat Mladin clinched the 2005
AMA Superbike title, the sixth in his career, and Aaron Yates took
home the 2005 AMA Superstock Championship for the second time. Talented
racers? Absolutely, but talent won't
count for much if it isnÕt
backed up with the right equipment. Yoshimura/Suzuki definitely supplied
the right equipment, including a brand-new TRC System exhaust, pipes
that build the kind of power Mladin and Yates used to the fullest.
Those new TRC pipes are available right
over the counter. They're available directly through Parts Unlimited
and they're in stock
now. Will bolting on a Yoshimura TRC System elevate any rider to the
level of a Mladin or a Yates? Doubtful, but then again it can't
hurt!
The Yoshimura TRC System for street bikes
uses the same Cone Shaped End Cap that's used by the racers. The
TRC - System's short
and tight 16-inch muffler accepts Yoshimura's optional TEC low-volume
insert, too, and that TEC insert installs in seconds. A single Allen
fastener located at the bottom of the muffler tip holds it in place.
With the TEC insert installed the sound level drops by 3 to 5 decibels.
For track days that TEC insert can just as easily be removed. And there's
a Yoshimura TRC System exhaust for every taste, every style and every
budget. The cone-tipped TRC Systems are available in stainless
steel, titanium and carbon fiber, and for the record it's those
carbon fiber TRC silencers that Mladin and Yates use on the racetrack.
But all the TRC System silencers, whether
it's the titanium, stainless steel or carbon fiber versions, are great
on the racetrack and the street. They're all extremely resistant to rust
and corrosion. Each one does a great job of dissipating heat, too, and
for a rider-friendly touch in a performance exhaust there's even a stainless
steel heat shield standard on the inlet portion of the mufflers. Yoshimura
has a full-titanium TRC System available, as well - header, mid-pipe
and silencer. As you'd
suspect, the application for this little piece of pedigreed raceware
is the 2005 Suzuki GSX-R1000.
And have you seen that other new Yoshimura
sportbike exhaust, the R-22 System? It's a dazzler, featuring a really
short 14-inch muffler with a Cone Shaped End Cap very much like the TRC
System's mufflers.
The R-22 silencer has that same mounting provision for the optional TEC
low-volume insert and the R-22s are designer savvy with the R-22 logo
laser-etched right into the outer sleeve. Beneath that flash this exhaust
is pure Yoshimura quality and performance. Everything is Tig welded and
this is a Yoshimura exhaust so it builds power and dissipates heat. The
R-22 is extremely resistant to the ravages of rust and corrosion, and
it has that cool-looking cone-style tip. The R-22 is offered as slip-ons
or a full system, and Parts Unlimited has it either way.
The TRC System and R-22, two new sportbike
exhausts from the company that knows how to win. Two for the street,
one of them straight from the track. How do you beat that? Mat Mladin
and Aaron Yates say you don't.
