Honda, Yamaha of Troy, Throttlehead/Kawasaki/FMF, Factory KTM and a host of others competing at the highest levels of Supercross, motocross, MotoGP, Dirt Track, Enduro - just about anywhere an internal-combustion engine is fired up in competition - all pack their cylinders with Wiseco pistons. Wiseco has been a winning choice for more than 60 years, for good reason. Wiseco is the only high-performance piston company in the aftermarket with complete control over the formulation of the alloys used in its pistons. And Wiseco demands only the best. Wiseco has its own in-house forging presses, dedicated tooling for each high-performance piston it makes, pistons that are strong and lightweight with uncompromised reliability. Everything Wiseco makes is extensively tested with an in-house dyno facility. Little wonder that pro teams rely almost exclusively on Wiseco. Given all that, when the call comes for pistons it just makes sense for you to look to Wiseco, too. There's a huge selection of pistons to pick through, pistons for all types of machines and all sorts of applications and intended uses. Parts Unlimited stocks them all, including a few new ones you'll definitely want to know about. For instance... Looking to rev up a 2005 Yamaha YZ125? Wiseco has the Piston Kit to do it. This new YZ125 Piston Kit comes complete with ring, piston pin, and retainer clips, ready to go. Of course it's custom forged for unequaled strength and it's lightweight for quicker revs. The YZ125 Piston Kit even features a lighter and stronger taper-wall piston pin. This performance-replacement piston is available in a standard 54mm size ($85.93, complete) and a 56mm oversize ($94.52). The GP series Yamaha pistons are good for 1.5 more horsepower over stock, a nice boost for a 125. They're all ring-pinned on the centerline of the exhaust to reduce the chances of the ring catching in the ports, and to enhance mid- and top-end performance there's no boost port hole in the back of the piston. The ring groove and wrist pin areas are treated with Wiseco's exclusive "E coat" system, too, extra protection against galling. And there are new four-stroke Piston Kits out. The Wiseco kits for the 2005 Suzuki RMZ450 and 2005 Yamaha YZ/WR250F are both packed with proven Wiseco performance. That forged Suzuki piston is lightweight with a lightweight taper-wall pin to quicken up the throttle response, with more performance coming from the Wiseco-design pressure seal groove to maximize ring sealing. The piston is CNC machined to an optimal cam shape and profile for peak horsepower and service life, and to increase the piston life even more there's horizontal-slot pin oiling and a high-performance skirt coating to reduce friction. The Piston Kit comes complete with rings, pin, and retainer clips. The Wiseco Piston Kit for the 2005 Yamaha YZ/WR250F is a wake-up call for that already wide-awake 250. The YZ/WR250F is a nice combination of 125-like weight and maneuverability and 250 four-stroke horsepower and torque. The new Wiseco High-Performance Piston Kit makes all that even better. Along with reduced weight and increased strength, and that Wiseco-design pressure-seal groove for maximum ring sealing and the horizontal-slot pin oiling, there's a computer-designed/CNC machined/dyno proven Dome Design that greatly improves flame travel. There's also a 2-Ring Design for less friction, high-performance skirt coating and there are Lateral Gas Ports in the ring grooves for maximum ring sealing/maximum performance. Wiseco also has what it takes for those future MX stars looking for power. The Honda XR50 and CRF50F are the quintessential beginner bikes; Wiseco's Piston Kits take things to the next level. The 4798M Series Piston Kit fits all the 1998-2003 Honda XR50s and the new 2004 CRF50F. This little piston is a big performer. It features an 11:1 compression ratio to get that bike shooting off the corners, and it's available in a variety of oversizes to keep the bike running strong as long as that future star is still learning. And remember, Wiseco is also in the clutch business. Cast OE clutch baskets just aren't designed to deal with the kind of performance Wiseco delivers. Elevating the toughness and durability to the next level, Wiseco has fully machined forged clutch baskets to eliminate all the problems and worries inherent with those stock parts. The Wiseco Forged Clutch Baskets have greater strength due to "feature aligned grain flow" in the metal itself, and compared to castings or baskets machined from billet the Wiseco precision forgings can be lighter, stronger and more resistant to impact and fatigue. These clutch baskets are hard anodized for a long life and smooth clutch operation, and they're supplied with high quality fasteners complete with pre-applied thread locker. There are now more than 30 models available, and new this fall are matching Forged Clutch Inner Hubs and Forged Pressure Plates. The first models available are for the CRF450, CR250, CRF250, CR125, and the Banshee ATV. Applications for the YZ250, YZ250F, and RM125 will be out this winter. This is big news. No one else offers the toughness and durability available with Wiseco's Forged Baskets, Inner Hubs, and Pressure Plates. Combine all that and you have the winning combination, a clutch ready to take on the power of those Wiseco Forged Piston Kits. It's all available through Parts Unlimited, so call your rep today for more information. |
