erry Vance has a saying: “You’re only as good as your last race.” Well, those few words go a long way towards explaining the phenomenal track success of Vance & Hines, a winning legacy dating way back to the early-1970s. It’s a philosophy that’s carried over into the business side of Vance & Hines, too. To paraphrase Terry just a little, you’re only as good as your latest product, too, and judged by that, Vance & Hines 2005 has to be just about as good as it gets.
In 2005 alone Vance & Hines debuted no fewer than eight brand-new products, all this on top of an existing exhaust-system lineup that’s one of the most successful and asked-for in the industry. There’s a brand-new Vance & Hines fuel management product just out, too. It’s the Fuelpak. We’ll take a look at that right here, along with all those new exhausts from Vance & Hines. And remember, some of this product is so new you’re seeing it for the first time . . .

“Big Radius” Pipes For The Dyna
The Vance & Hines Big Radius exhaust has become pretty popular in its relatively short time on the market. You know that, you’ve been selling them. Custom style like this generally means reduced performance on some level, but not at Vance & Hines, and certainly not with the Big Radius. These are custom pipes that perform. If they didn’t they wouldn’t carry the Vance & Hines name. With those beautifully curved 2 1/2-in. full-coverage heat shields, those scalloped end tips and the Vance & Hines blue-proof show quality chrome the Big Radius exhaust set a new standard for custom pipes. They bring plenty of horsepower and torque to the table, too, and they sound wonderful. Baffles and mounting hardware are included, and in Vance & Hines fashion the pipes fit great, too.
And now they fit the Harley Dyna models. Originally introduced for the Softail, the Vance & Hines Big Radius looks great on a Dyna, and all those same features and performance boosts carry right over to this Harley-Davidson twin-shock favorite. Incidentally, the Big Radius full-coverage heat shields are replaceable, in all the applications…nice to know if the shields somehow get scratched or dented. You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who has anything bad to say about a set of Vance & Hines Big Radius pipes. And now with the Dyna in the application list those sales possibilities have just exploded.

The new Shortshot Staggered pipes from Vance & Hines are a great update to the original popular Shortshots. They feature top performance, great looks and full-coverage heat shields, all at a price that’s hard to beat!

The New “Shortshot Staggered”
Here’s one of those brand-new for 2005 exhaust systems from Vance & Hines. The Shortshot Staggered pipes are a great update to the original Shortshots. They perform incredibly well, they look really cool, they come with full-coverage heat shields–and none of that is the most exciting news. This is: The Shortshot Staggered retails at a price point that just can’t be beat.
You can sell the new Vance & Hines Shortshot Staggered for just $325, complete. You read that right, $325. There’s nothing second-rate or short-changed here, either. The Shortshot Staggered are pure Vance & Hines. Along with those full-coverage heat shields there are internal baffles and stepped-up muffler bodies; the 1 3/4-in. head pipe steps up to a full 2 1/8-in. diameter for the muffler. And these pipes are 100-percent blue-proof, too. There’s even an optional quiet baffle available.
Vance & Hines calls the Shortshot Staggered “a revolution in exhaust technology.” They could be right. Never before has the short, fat, straight-pipe performance look–backed up with actual performance–been offered at a price like this. Dollar for dollar the Shortshot Staggereds are tough to beat. And these pipes really do perform. They’ll significantly boost horsepower and torque over the stock system.
The new Shortshot Staggereds are available just about across the board, too. There are applications for Softails, for the Dynas and of course for the new Sportsters. The press releases are just going out now, and at that $325 retail you know these pipes are going to be top sellers. Genuine Vance & Hines at a price like this is unheard of, or at least it was until now.
And consider this. Add a new Vance & Hines Fuelpak fuel-management system (more about that in a minute) to a set of these Shortshot Staggered pipes and you have the makings of a great Stage I performance package. For a grand total of $600 (the Fuelpak sells for $275) you’ve just bolted on everything needed for a generous increase in horsepower, torque, rideability and response. That’s tough to beat, and easy to sell!

ook at the track success this company has had, and is still having today. In 2004 the Vance & Hines V-Rod team won the NHRA Pro Stock championship, and in 2005 they reset the National Record, becoming the first V-Rod to ever post a 6-second ET.
And of course that Vance & Hines/Drag Specialties Top Fuel effort keeps charging on.      Doug Vancil is posting wins and setting records coast-to-coast. As this is written it’s anyone’s championship, but Vance & Hines currently sits in the Number 2 position with high hopes of moving up for the finish.
Once racers, always racers, and Terry Vance and Byron Hines are racers. They have a knack of bringing that performance expertise to the street, too.

ance & Hines is taking it on the road. There’s a brand-new Vance & Hines semi now, and it’ll be at all the major events, coast-to-coast. The big truck made its debut at Sturgis. Vance & Hines is bringing all these new pipes and parts out to where riders can see them first-hand. More than that, they’re bringing along a whole fleet of motorcycles with those parts and pipes mounted. Riders can see and hear what’s new at Vance & Hines right on the spot. They’ll get any questions they might have answered, too. There will be full Fuelpak demos, as well, and of course every new customer gets directed straight to the local Drag Specialties dealer.

And Now Even More Sideshots…
Style and performance all-in-one, the Vance & Hines Sideshots come with that Vance & Hines “Power Chamber” technology. And it works. Hidden under the heat shields, the Power Chamber dramatically improves the scavenging of each cylinder to get the spent fuel out and allow more efficient combustion all around. And these pipes look good, too.      There are massive full-length 2 1/2-in. header and muffler heat shields. The Sideshots look, sound and feel like the power-pipes they are, and now all this is available for the Dynas and Sportsters, too.
The Sideshots started off with the Softail, where, incidentally, they’ve become a pretty hot seller. Now you can offer these popular pipes to all the Dyna and Sportster riders. Once again, Vance & Hines expanded the application list for a popular set of pipes. It’s a win/win deal all around.

Stepping Up With The Stepped Drag Pipes
Vance & Hines just expanded the lineup for the Stepped Drag Pipes, too. These popular exhausts–a genuine taste of the Vance & Hines heritage in a 2-into-2 drag pipe–are offered for both the Softails and the Dynas now, too. Free-flowing horsepower looks and sounds great here. Proprietary bends and steps increase horsepower and torque, and do it with a deep, powerful growl. There are full-coverage heat shields, those stepped head pipes, baffles, complete mounting hardware and it’s finished off with Vance & Hines signature billet end tips. And this year there are applications galore.

The Straightshot HS and Straightshot HS Slip-on
Take a fresh look at the Vance & Hines Straightshot HS, too, another great looking, great sounding and great performing set of pipes originally available for only the Softails. Now you can have them for the Dynas, too. And for the Sportsters. These pipes are all 100-percent blue-proof, too.
And do you have anyone looking to give a new Sportster some extra performance and style without breaking the bank? The new Straightshots HS Slip-ons are a great answer. These race-inspired mufflers have that traditional Vance & Hines hot-rod sound, there are massive 2 1/2-in. diameter plasma cut 220-degree full-coverage muffler heat shields, the baffles and mounting hardware is included and the Slip-ons are a perfect fit every time.
And speaking about those new Sportsters, Vance & Hines is really getting behind these bikes. You should, too. Sportsters are going to be a big part of your business. Harley-Davidson’s projected to sell 100,000 XLs, and that’s an easy number to believe. The new Sportsters are great bikes, whether it’s an entry-level purchase or not. Stock up and get ready.

The New Big Shot Duals With Fishtails
The FLH and FLT touring Harley are hot, too, and Vance & Hines has some hot new pipes just for them. The new Big Shot Duals are a great addition to a touring Harley. These pipes feature giant 2 1⁄2-in. diameter full-length heat shields with 220-degrees of coverage–and like all the new pipes from Vance & Hines they’re non-bluing. These pipes look great, too. Unlike the clunky crossover design of the factory header the head pipes here gracefully glide down opposite sides of the bike. It’s classic dresser look, and it’s functional, too, a true 2-into-2 system. The Big Shot Duals lend a clean, uncluttered look to a big Harley. They showcase that Big Twin engine, and they simplify maintenance. Straight-cut billet tips are standard, but there are also optional Slash-Cut tips and for a really classic look there are now Fishtails II tips available, as well, along with Quiet baffles. The Big Shot Duals–and those Fishtail IIs–are available for 1995 through 2005 FLH and FLT dressers.

The V-Rod is catching on fast, and Vance & Hines has answered the call with the Powershots, a slip-on with a pair of 2 1/2-inch muffler bodies, dual Power Chambers and a single 360-degree heat shield. Your V-Rod customers will love this one.

And Don’t Forget The V-Rod…
Talk about another bike catching on fast, the V-Rod has really come into its own. Vance & Hines Powershots are the perfect addition, too. Here’s an exhaust system truly worthy of a V-Rod. This slip-on features that Vance & Hines Power Chamber technology with a pair of 2 1/2-in. muffler bodies, dual Power Chambers and a single 360-degree heat shield for a unique dual-staggered, twin-layered look. The Powershots work like gangbusters and the sound is pure motorcycle music.
All of this makes it pretty clear–this year Vance & Hines is coming straight at you, on the track and off. Throughout its 25 year history Vance & Hines has never rested on its laurels and that’s evident here. “You’re only as good as your last race,” remember? With those words in mind take a look at all that’s new at Vance & Hines. And, we’re told, there’s even more that’s new and exciting planned for 2006. Just wait…

ere’s something brand-new from Vance & Hines. The Fuelpak, launched mid-year 2005 and just now getting into the catalogs, is already a sales success. The Fuelpak is an easy-to-use fuel management system available for every FI Harley that needs one, and these days that means them all. There are Fuelpaks for the Softails, the Dynas, the dressers and the V-Rod. The Fuelpak is a simple plug-and-play deal, too. Without computers or dynos this fuel-management tool allows you to quickly lean or richen the fuel mixture as needed.
Every Harley leaves the factory with its fuel system set for stock applications. Change any component relating to that OE fuel system (like the exhaust) and you need to change the way the bike’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) manages the fuel delivery. That’s where the Fuelpak comes in.
The Vance & Hines Fuelpak provides new fuel settings that have been dyno- and street tested to be correct for the specific exhaust system fit to the bike. The Fuelpak, “piggybacking” on the factory ECU, will provide the most efficient fuel delivery for the application. It sends a new signal for fuel delivery to the injectors based on settings Vance & Hines provides for the bike-and-pipe combination.
And the Fuelpak is adjustable. Future modifications are easily accommodated by simply looking up any new parts combination and updating the Fuelpak to reflect the changes. This is the easiest, most convenient and most flexible FI management system on the market. There’s no guesswork involved, and no computers or dynamometers are needed. The Vance & Hines Fuelpak will make a lot of riders–and their bikes–pretty happy.

The new Fuelpak from Vance & Hines is an easy-to-use fuel management system, available for Softails, Dynas, V-Rods and dressers. This simple tool allows you to quickly lean or richen the fuel mixture as needed, without the use of computers or dynos.
