hey’re ready. Samson introduced the “Big Guns 3” lineup at the Drag Specialties National Vendor Presentation and they’re making their way to the warehouses now. This third-generation of the popular Samson Big Guns exhaust has plenty to offer, too. Refined, redesigned–and basically all new–these pipes retain that familiar and asked-for Samson style and have that same deep and classic Samson tone–and now come loaded with lots of new features, benefits and extras. Bottom line: Samson took everything good about the original Big Guns and Big Guns 2 and made it all better.
     Here’s what’s new. The Big Guns 3, continuing the classic Samson style with the Cannons, the Street Sweepers, the Rip Saws and the Slashers, now come with integrated and completely seamless 2 1/2-in. one-piece/full-coverage heat shields. There’s no chance for any discoloration whatsoever. None, nada. These pipes will stay bright and shiny for years. The new Big Guns 3 come standard with integrated smooth-flow baffles, too. Still delivering that deep Samson rumble riders love so much, these smooth-flow baffles assure peak performance in all applications, and Samson has accomplished all this without letting the Big Guns 3 become so loud they’ll attract all the wrong attention. The Big Guns 3 are Samson’s latest. These are custom pipes custom made for today’s motors and today’s riders.
     Those 2 1/2-in. permanent heat shields are a lot more reliable than any old-style clamp-on heat shield, too. Broken tab brackets are a thing of the past. The Big Guns 3 heat shields are integrated right into the design of the pipe so there’s nothing that’s ever going to wiggle loose or rattle around. And port-to-tip they completely eliminate the possibility of any bluing. These pipes will keep their just-installed look for years. And the Big Guns 3, with those full-coverage integrated heat shields, weigh just a fraction of what a comparable double-wall pipe would tip the scales at, too.
     There’s plenty that’s good underneath those full-coverage heat shields, too. The Big Guns 3 leave the ports with a performance-proven 1 3/4-in. head pipe then step up to a free-flowing 2 1/4-in. diameter to really move the exhaust out. The Big Guns 3 are great for cylinder scavenging and engine efficiency. And now there are those integrated free-flow baffles, too. They’re built right in, they’re all steel, there’s nothing that’s ever going to blow out or need re-packing. The Big Guns 3 baffles are the perfect complement to modern fuel-injected engines. They sound great, and they neatly overcome any objections to too-loud straight pipes.

halk it up to all those FLSTSC/FLSTSCI’s out on the road. Harley’s Softail Springer Classic has become a wildly popular bike. No surprise.
