Drag Specialties offers a huge selection of laced wheels, all DOT approved and come with chrome-plated billet aluminum hubs, Timken roller bearings or sealed bearings (depending on the application), seals, stainless steel spokes and hubs drilled to accept stock brake rotors.

The Drag Specialties Fat Daddy is a radial-laced 50-spoke wheel with 3/8-inch polished spokes and custom nipples, available in a wide variety of sizes for front and rear.
ook at all the different types of cast wheels on the market today, with spokes carved in the shape of stars, swords, and even dragons, and you could be forgiven for thinking that someone’s trying to re-invent the wheel. You might also think that laced wheels are a thing of the past, quaint artifacts like buggy whips and top hats that once served a purpose but are now obsolete–but you’d be wrong. Laced wheels not only never went away, they’re hotter than ever. Now they’re affordable, too, thanks to Drag Specialties’ huge selection of laced wheel assemblies.
All Drag Specialties laced wheels are DOT approved, and come with chrome-plated billet-aluminum hubs, Timken roller bearings for earlier applications or sealed bearings for later applications, and seals. The spokes are made of stainless steel, polished to a high-quality shine that looks like chrome but doesn’t chip or build up on the threads like chrome does. The hubs are drilled to accept stock brake rotors–all you have to do is take the wheels out of the boxes, spoon on tires, and put them on the bike. It’s that easy.
What’s not so easy is keeping track of all the sizes and styles of laced wheels Drag Specialties offers. To start with, they’re available with 40, 60, or 80 spokes, for both stock replacement and custom applications, including the Fat Daddy, a radial-laced 50-spoke wheel with 3/8-inch polished spokes and custom nipples. The Fat Daddy comes in front sizes (16x3.5, 18x3.5, 18x4.25, and 21x2.15) and rears (16x3.5, 18x3.5, 18x4.25, and 18x5.5); 4.25 and larger wheels will require some chassis modifications for installation.
Maybe you want to go from cast wheeled to laced, but you’re looking to go wider, too. Drag Specialties custom rear laced wheels come in 18x4.25, 16x6, 18x5.5, 15x7, 16x8, 18x8.25, and 18x9. Like the Fat Daddy, wide laced rear wheels will require some chassis modification.
If you’re just out to replace your OEM cast wheels with laced wheels of the same size, you’re in luck. Drag Specialties carries a complete lineup of bolt-on replacement front and rear wheels for single- and dual-disc Big Twins and Sportsters from 1984 on. Like all Drag Specialties laced wheels, they’re trued to less than .005-inch runout. Bearings, seals, and a center spacer are included but not installed so you can use your favorite bearing grease and set the end play yourself.
For the real do-it-yourselfer, Drag Specialties has a line of 40-spoke spun-steel chrome rims. They’re the same rims used on Drag Specialties complete wheel assemblies, and come undrilled and set up for a center metal valve stem. They’re perfect for lacing to stock, OEM-type hubs, and of course they’re DOT-approved. They’re available in 21x2.15, 16x3.5, 16x6, 18x3.5, 18x4.25, 18x5.5, and 19x2.15. Naturally, Drag Specialties has spokes in chrome, stainless steel, and carbon steel, as well as nipples, spoke wrenches, and wheel bearing and seal kits to make the job easy.
Drag Specialties also carries three styles of brake rotors to upgrade those fancy new laced wheels. They’re made of ductile iron for the best braking performance, and come with chrome-plated billet-aluminum carriers. Matching pulleys are available in four styles in 65- or 70-tooth sizes, and come with a center-hole design that hides the wheel hub seal for a cleaner look.
All Drag Specialties laced wheels are made in the U.S.A., and are in stock now and ready for delivery. Whether your customers just want to replace a set of cast wheels, or go whole hog with the widest laced rear wheel they can find, Drag Specialties has what they’re looking for.
