ou don’t have to be an American to love America’s favorite motorcycle. Nor do Canadian dealers have to turn to the U.S. for parts and accessories for Harleys and other V-twins. Parts Canada/Power Twins is Canada’s largest supplier of V-twin products, with two warehouses, a huge inventory of the biggest brand names in the V-twin market, and next-day delivery anywhere in Canada–and it’s getting bigger every day.
Since its founding, Parts Canada/Power Twins has gone from a 100-page catalog to a 1,000-pager. “Today we definitely have the largest Harley product catalog in Canada,” says Parts Canada/Power Twins general manager James Danyluk. “Nobody can come close to the product lines that we have exclusively, like Vance & Hines, Kuryakyn, the number one selection of S&S–it goes on and on.”
Parts Canada/Power Twins has two warehouses, one at the company headquarters in Calgary, and the other in London, which is even now being replaced by a new facility five times as large as the old one. The strategic location of its warehouses allows Parts Canada/Power Twins to offer next-day delivery anywhere in Canada. And the enormous amount of warehouse space lets Parts Canada/Power Twins offer a huge inventory of the most popular parts and accessories for Harley-Davidsons and custom V-twins. “We have by far more capacity to hold inventory and ship it, far more than any of our competitors,” Danyluk says.
Parts Canada/Power Twins is working toward making it unnecessary for Canadian dealers to call U.S. distributors for parts they can’t find. “We’re moving very quickly to offer the full FatBook,” Danyluk says. “In a couple of areas, like Kuryakyn chrome, we offer more. There are a number of lines that we carry that Drag Specialties doesn’t, and a few they carry that we don’t right now but are going to get.”
Pricing is another area in which Parts Canada/Power Twins is determined to be the leader. “Last year, because of the exchange rates, in some cases it was cheaper for a dealer to phone a U.S. supplier direct. We got very aggressive on exchange rates this year. The long and short of it is dealers can’t buy products cheaper in the U.S. than they can buy from us.”
Price doesn’t matter if the part’s not in stock. “We offer almost all of the FatBook, but we don’t inventory a few part numbers, so this year we introduced what we call blue numbers. Take for example a $20,000 frame. We have it on our catalog but it’s a blue number, a special order. The blue numbers come from Janesville. You get the same pricing, it just takes a little longer.”
Another Parts Canada/Power Twins exclusive is a password-protected dealer website where dealers can go online, do all their ordering, check stock and delivery times, and review purchase orders.
Danyluk says Parts Canada/Power Twins not only makes sure dealers have the parts and accessories they need, but the customers as well. “We’re the only distributor that takes part in every consumer show in Canada, coast to coast. In fact, we even have dealers working at our booth. Customers come in and see we have custom Harleys in the booth, and they see the Power Twins bike we had built that was in a previous issue of Drag Specialties Magazine. They say, ‘Boy do I love that bike, where do I get the stuff?’ We’ll direct them to the nearest V-twin dealer.”

Parts Canada/Power Twins is the title sponsor of the CMDRA in conjunction with Harley-Davidson of Canada, and participates in charity rides all over the country. “Wherever there’s a gathering of bikes we’re usually there,” says Danyluk. Parts Canada/Power Twins is even helping fill the entertainment void left by the hockey strike by signing on as the primary sponsor of a series of six one-hour custom-bike build-offs scheduled to air in September on TSN. All the competitors will use Parts Canada/Power Twins products, the bikes will all feature hockey-related themes, and NHL players will act as judges.

James Danyluk sums it up this way: “The thing we always try to tell the dealer is do the math. Check us out, because generally we have every product.” And new products are coming in so fast the catalog department can barely keep up with them–next year’s edition is slated for 1,200 pages.

With great pricing, a huge inventory, and active support of the dealers who sell their products, Parts Canada/Power Twins is the powerhouse of V-twin distributors in Canada.
