humb through the FatBook and you’ll find just about every specialized tool needed to build a healthy and horsepower-happy Harley engine. Lots of them are coming from JIMS. Reamers, drivers, bearing and bushing installation tools, leak down testers, pullers, alignment tools and gauges and guides and on and on it goes. There are literally columns of the FatBook index devoted to JIMS, and any Harley shop worth the name probably has most of that stuff tucked away in their tool chests.
Here’s something that might not be there, though, and it’s the foolproof first step to a screaming V-twin before any of those other tools get picked up. JIMS “Accelerator Pro III” computer program includes three CDs worth of engine-design software that lets you know what you’re going to get before you start to build it. Talk about taking the guesswork out. The Accelerator Pro III is 99-percent accurate predicting the horsepower and torque of any parts combination you enter in.
Using the Accelerator Pro III is easy and intuitive, and the choices are endless. Choose the bore and stroke, the rod length and compression ratio, the cam timing and duration, the port size and flow, the carburetor–every variable is a mouse click and keystroke away. You can make side-by-side comparisons of any combinations chosen, too, and since the Accelerator Pro III also reads Dynojet files you can compare the performance of an existing engine to a computer-generated one.
It only makes sense to load up an engine-shop with all those tools from JIMS. It makes even more sense to load up the computer with JIMS Accelerator Pro III software first. How often do you get the chance to know exactly what you’re going to get before you build it? JIMS Accelerator Pro III software is in the FatBook and it belongs in your computer.
