hen it comes to utility quads there just aren’t many more popular than the Honda TRX-350 Rancher, and Progressive Suspension’s 512 Series is the first set of shocks made specifically for a utility quad. This is a combination that makes sense–and it’s something you can sell.
These 512-Series shocks, available in both front- and rear applications, have gone through extensive testing to make sure they’re the best possible suspension upgrade you can install on an ATV. The 512 Series comes with extra-heavy-duty springs to easily carry the kind of loads utility quads deal with, the kind of loads that can bottom-out the stock suspension. Hunters, who routinely overload their ATVs way beyond the ability of the stock suspensions, sometimes even breaking their shocks in the process, will love the added load-capacity here. The 512 shocks are oversized, too. There’s a 1/2-inch increased length for more shock-travel and more ground clearance. And coming from Progressive Suspension, of course there’s improved damping engineered in for better ride control and enhanced stability, and all that just begins the list of upgrades you get with the 512s.
Like the machines they’re meant for, these shocks are tough. They feature a rugged double-steel-wall construction. The 512’s Progressive Rate Springs are wound for a comfortable ride along with all that improved load carrying capacity, too. And those springs are 5-position adjustable. You can fine-tune them for the load and the conditions. And these are gas-charged shocks. They’re fade-free in even the toughest situations, and the damping is velocity sensitive for a smooth ride. And here’s a nice touch: each 512-Series shock comes with a Progressive Suspension “Shock Sox,” a form-fit material cover to keep dirt and mud out of the springs and keep those preload adjusters nice and clean.
All of this comes at a pretty friendly price. A pair of 512s for the front of that Rancher retails for $269.95. The single 512 for the rear, measuring 14.5-inches overall by the way, is just $139.95. The 512s are offered for ATVs other than that Honda Rancher, too, and Parts Unlimited has them all in stock now.
