The new MXStream Top Filter from K&N is a two-piece air filter with applications now available for the Honda CRF. This high-flow filter offers optimum airflow, and its unique two-piece design allows for a no-mess installation and easy clean up.

&N has been a familiar name in performance for more than 35 years,
with riders and racers everywhere relying on K&N filters. K&N has become the filter of choice in just about every area of motorsports, Formula One, NASCAR, openwheel,
drag racing, road racing–even watercraft and snowmobiles.
Well, with the current popularity-explosion of all the new 4-stroke motocross machines it only made sense for K&N to be there, too. K&N has been in the off-road scene since way back in 1969 and has never left; winning Baja races, desert races, hare scrambles, motocross, the list goes on and on…
K&N’s brand-new MXStream Top Filter, a two-piece high-flow air filter with initial applications for the 2003-2005 Honda CRF 450R and the 2004-2005 CRF 250R is a welcome addition to the performance arsenal. This K&N filter offers optimum airflow for those 4-stroke bikes, and does it with a serious filter that really keeps the bad stuff out. Four layers of woven cotton in the K&N dramatically increase the filtration and airflow over a stock two-layer foam filter. The K&N, with its deep 7/16-inch pleats, offers two- to threetimes the filtration area of a standard foam filter. And the K&N is reusable. You can wash it out and re-oil it over and over again.
The K&N’s two-piece design makes that clean up easy, too. With the top removed you can easily squeeze the filter’s sides together to slide it in and out between the frame rails and right into the air-box without any oily or greasy mess. The K&N ensures a perfect seal too; there’s a double-beaded seal on the MXStream’s top and base. K&N’s even included a built-in protective backfire screen on the inside and outside of the filter.
And remember, these MXStream Top Filters are true race-spec performers. They’ll flow more air than the OE filter they replace. K&N recommends checking the carburetion jetting as a change could very well be necessary.
K&N has race-spec oil filters for those Hondas, too. Over the years K&N has become a real leader in this field, as well, and everything they’ve learned building high-performance oil filters for the automotive industry for the past 15 years is incorporated into these oil filters. First and foremost, these K&N oil filters employ a synthetic filter media, unlike the paper found inside a typical oil filter. That’s important. With the higher usage of synthetic and semi-synthetic oils today that synthetic filter media inside the K&N is a real plus. Those highly concentrated synthetic oils actually break down the paper inside most oil filters. It’s not something you can see with the naked eye, but it’s happening. That old-style filter is actually filtering itself, clogging up on its own paper. None of that happens with the K&N. These oil filters are fully compatible with the latest synthetic oils, and they’re unaffected by race fuels. The K&N is optimized for ultimate flow with less pressure drop, too, and the K&N’s bypass valve is set to a higher psi to force more oil through the filter. The spin-on type oil filters have a higher burst strength than an OE canister, and there’s even a handy 17mm hex nut and safety wire hole incorporated into the top to make on-and-off servicing safe and easy.
