or several years now the manufacturers have created and sold better and better four-strokes to the riding and racing public. At every level of competition from indoors at the Supercross and outdoors at the Nationals to the local tracks and off-road riding areas, four-strokes are taking the major championships as well as winning the hearts and wallets of the weekend play riders. The newest four stroke models (04’s & 05’s) have continued to evolve and there’s now little similarity between the 2002 CRF450 and the 2005 version in terms of overall performance. The bikes are changing and evolving so much so, that the R&D processes and aftermarket products of a true performance company like FMF also have had to evolve.
Another evolution in the industry, especially in the exhaust segment–at the consumer level–is the strong need for quality product at various price points. In other words, your customers are getting more sophisticated than the machines they ride and they’re demanding high quality products, like FMF exhaust systems, at varying price points that suit their specific needs. FMF understands this and there are now performance exhausts from FMF (in both OHV legal quiet performance systems as well as unadulterated non-quiet pure racing versions) at varying price points to fit almost every customer’s desire.
While both of the above points may mean at the dealer level a heightened level of understanding of the entire FMF product line, the return potential is outstanding. And while sophisticated to meet your customer’s needs, the FMF product line is easy to understand. FMF educational sources include: Your Parts sales rep, FMF’s support staff, FMF’s website (Product and/or Tech and/or New info areas), and consumer magazines - whether FMF ads or numerous product reviews/comparisons.
Just look at some of FMF’s new products for 2005 and you’ll understand FMF’s commitment to the market and your customer’s needs:

Factory 4.1™ Carbon

FMF Racing recently introduced the Factory 4.1™ carbon system. Utilizing the technology that went into creating the titanium Factory 4.1, the carbon system has all the performance enhancements while weighing even less! Like its titanium sibling, the Factory 4.1 carbon is an all new muffler design featuring FMF’s formed tapered titanium inlet and patented titanium chamber core. These unique dimensional flow changes provide the broader, more usable and tractable power curve any four stroke will benefit from. Also incorporated is FMF’s Factory Forward Engineering, which lowers and centralizes the machines center of gravity for improved handling without sacrificing silencer volume and durability. The proprietary oval muffler shape and angle cut end cap combined with the tapered inlet allow the muffler to be routed further forward - less susceptible to crash damage without interfering with the frame, subframe, shock, rear wheel or brake. The carbon muffler is constructed from an exclusive continuous strand filament developed to hold up to the rigors of motocross and the temperature of 4-stroke motors.
To complete the system, the Factory 4.1 carbon is complimented with FMF’s patented titanium PowerBomb™ header and mid pipe for the lightest and strongest full system available. Motors with displacement of 450cc and up use the Factory Forward PowerBomb™ header design with tuned length for optimum performance and lower center of gravity. FMF’s exclusive modular exhaust port flange transmits less vibration reducing tension on the system for increased reliability.
The Factory 4.1 carbon was developed for competition use as well as anyone serious about the performance of their four stroke. The all new angle cut Hi-Flo titanium end cap offers versatility and tune-ability with the optional Power Rings and Rev Tubes to alter power delivery. There is also a removable spark arrestor module for off-road applications.

Factory 4.1 SL

Another new item in the 2005 FMF lineup is the Factory 4.1 SL Muffler. Based on the all-new Factory 4.1 full systems from FMF Racing, the Factory 4.1 SL mufflers are completely new slip-on applications incorporating all the benefits of the premier race muffler. With the patented titanium chamber core and tapered titanium inlet, the Factory 4.1 SL produces broader, more useable and tractable power. FMF’s Factory Forward Engineering is seen in the uniquely shaped front end cap and angle cut oval canister that moves the muffler closer to the center of the bike resulting in centralized mass for improved handling and a lighter feel. The newly designed Hi-Flo titanium end cap is modular for tuning the power with optional Rev Tubes and Power Rings or for off-road applications requiring the spark arrestor module. The Factory 4.1 SL is available as a carbon/titanium muffler or all titanium offered in natural or blue anodized finish. The 4.1 SLs fit a stock, PowerBomb or MegaBomb header. To obtain all the benefits of a full race system muffler without the full system price, opt for the Factory 4.1 SL.

Q2

For 2005, FMF has introduced the second generation of High Performance Quiet Technology Q mufflers engineered for performance while maintaining a sound level at or near 93dB on most models. The Q2 is an enhanced and improved version of the original Q muffler released several years ago as a solution to the increased noise emissions from the current line of four strokes. With emphasis on performance, the Q2 maximizes the exhaust flow while maintaining an acceptable and compliant noise level through strategic placement of internal baffles and chambers surrounded by an advanced triple layer of sound-absorbing materials.
Utilizing all the same engineering of the Ti Q, the Q2 comes with the race proven Hi-Flo titanium end cap to increase exhaust flow as it exits the muffler with a slimmer and more compact design incorporating Factory Forward Engineering to centralize mass and lower the center of gravity. Available as a durable anodized aluminum slip-on with a maintenance free USFS approved spark arrestor, stainless steel front end cap and mandrel bent mid pipe, the Q2 not only offers improved performance, it is lighter and quieter than the original. The Q2 fits a stock, PowerBomb or MegaBomb header.

The Q2 is the new and improved second generation of low sound/high performance slip-on mufflers from FMF Racing.
