Emil Shelbelbon from the Three Palms Extreme Park presents a check to partners John Mitchell and Keith Darrow of JM Racing, the winning team of the Parts Unlimited U.S. Dealers Challenge presented by Pirelli.

he 2nd annual Parts Unlimited U.S. Dealers Challenge presented by Pirelli was held last October at Three Palms Extreme Park in Conroe, Texas. The success of the previous year’s motocross race was evident by the 600 entries for this 2004 event.
The Dealers Challenge is a team concept. There were two categories of teams. (1) Franchise and non-franchise retail stores entered their teams in the Dealer category and competed for money and a grand prize. (2) Teams not associated with a dealer entered their team in the other category and competed for trophies.
Team riders then raced in their usual classes and based on their finishes, scored points for the teams. There were over 40 teams entered this year. Several dealers entered multiple teams, but only their highest scoring team counted towards the team awards.
After the dust settled, it was JR Racing walking away with the coveted 1st place prize which included $750 and a trip for two to the Supercross opener this past January in Anaheim.
After two years, the Parts Unlimited U.S. Dealers Challenge presented by Pirelli has grown from a Houston local event to one that this year included riders from across Texas and surrounding states. With several national magazines on hand, it is felt that it is only a matter of time before the race will attract riders and teams from all over the United States.
Contingency sponsors included THOR, 909, Motorex, NGK, Renthal, FMF, Alpinestars, DP Brakes, Moose, PJ1, Hinson, Uni, Scott and American Suzuki, while Red Bull provided one heck of an industry party at the uptown Sam’s Boat in the Woodlands near the track.
