 FIRST AND LAST July 1972. Harley-Davidson-mounted Cal Rayborn wins the first-ever AMA National roadrace at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. He was killed the following season in New Zealand, so his Monterey win turned out to be his last-ever National win. It was also Harley-Davidson’s last roadrace victory in the premier class of AMA National racing.
