The brand new Mainstreet Hydraulic Clutch System from Drag/Magura will be available by February 2005. It comes complete with the master cylinder, the hydraulic line, and the slave cylinder and is filled with fluid and pre-bled.

ake a good look at this. It’s the Mainstreet Hydraulic Clutch System, brand new from Drag/Magura. Converting a Sportster or Big Twin to the effortless action of a true hydraulically operated clutch has never been easier. The Mainstreet Hydraulic Clutch System is complete. It’s ready to go right out of the box. The kit includes absolutely everything you need: the master cylinder, the hydraulic line and the slave cylinder are all here and everything’s assembled. The system is even filled with fluid and it’s pre-bled and ready to bolt on. With the Mainstreet Hydraulic Clutch System, converting to a hydraulic clutch is as easy as changing an OE cable.
The rewards are amazing. The Mainstreet makes clutch operation about 40-percent easier than even the best lubricated cable-operated clutch on its best day. With the Mainstreet clutch operation is always smooth and consistent, too. It’s hydraulic, so there’s never any cable- or pivot bind. The system is a great complement to a heavy-duty clutch, too.
The Mainstreet is a totally matched system. It’s been designed, engineered and manufactured by Magura, the same company supplying OE controls to BMW. Drag Specialties and Magura teamed up to bring that same level of German engineering to the Harley-Davidson aftermarket. Until now aftermarket hydraulic clutch systems generally consisted of a master cylinder from one company, hydraulic line from somewhere else, someone else’s transmission end cover and a slave cylinder from yet another supplier. Not here. With the Mainstreet you get it all, master cylinder to slave cylinder, and it’s all coming from one company, engineered and manufactured to work together as a trouble free system.
The Mainstreet is available in two lengths, a 56-inch sealed and non-adjustable version for most Sportster applications, and there’s an 80-inch version for both Sportsters and Big Twins. That one also comes sealed but can be adjusted for length and then re-bled. There are a couple of finish options, too. There’s a black version for an OE-type installation, and there’s a chrome version if you’ve already updated the switch housings. The Mainstreet’s master-cylinder reservoir looks great, too. It’s been designed to complement the style of all brake master cylinders, early- and late-model OE and aftermarket. The slave cylinders look good, too. They’re exposed on the Sportster applications, but they’re so small and tidy they’re as unobtrusive as the OE cable connection. On Big Twins the slave cylinder is completely hidden inside the stock Harley transmission end cover. Either way, installation is simple and full step-by-step instructions are included.
The Mainstreet Hydraulic Clutch Systems fit 1986 to 2005 Sportster models, and Big Twins from 1987 on. This all-in-one Drag/Magura kit is price competitive with pieced-together systems on the same level, too; pricing starts at $249.95 for the black-finish 56-inch Sportster model. The Big Twin black hydraulic clutch system retails for $369.95, in chrome it’s $479.95. The Mainstreet By Drag/Magura comes nicely packaged for display, too. It’ll be in the warehouses and available by February 2005, so make sure to talk to your rep about this one. Count on the Mainstreet Hydraulic Clutch System becoming main street popular with riders everywhere.
