otorcycle
electronics are great–until something goes wrong. Those ECUs (electronic
control units) that call the shots for a late-model Harley Davidson’s
fuel delivery, its timing and for just about everything else that has
a wire going to it do a wonderful job. The only trouble is when you do
have trouble you’re pretty much at a loss. Figuring out what’s
acting up, and why, takes a sophisticated–and expensive–scan
tool, and not many shops, and certainly not many riders, have one of
those on the shelf.
Now everyone can. The Twin Scan 88 is the first low-cost scanning tool
on the market. It’s made just for late model Harleys, and with
a retail price of $149.95 there’s no reason why any shop or serious
enthusiast can’t have one. That low price (comparable tools sell
for $700 to $2,500) is made possible by using a laptop PC as the display.
It provides diagnostic capabilities not found in any other currently
available tool, even those expensive ones. The Twin Scan 88 is especially
useful for diagnosing hard-to-find intermittent trouble codes, too. It’ll
store a 1/2-hour of data before and after the point in time when that
the trouble code was set, and this scanner is small enough to be left
on the bike for weeks, obviously without the laptop attached.
The Twin Scan 88 is compatible with all 2001- 2005 Harley fuel injected
bikes using the Delphi system (including the V-Rod), and 2003-2005 carbureted
bikes with the new 12-pin ignition module. It’ll read and clear
diagnostic trouble codes from the
ECU, turn signal/security module, speedometer and tach. The scan tool
offers a full range of capabilities for analyzing and printing out logged
data, and there’s even a real-time display of engine data available
on an instrument-panel type display. Check with your Drag Specialties
rep. These days there isn’t a shop–or a Harley owner–who
doesn’t need a scan tool, and at $149.95 the Twin Scan 88 is everyman’s
answer.

The Twin Scan 88 from Daytona Twin Tec provides high-tech diagnostics at
an affordable price. This handy tool is made specifically for late model
Harleys, and retails for just $149.95.

The Twin Scan 88 uses a laptop PC as its display, featuring clear, easy
to read diagnostics and real-time engine data on an instrument-panel type
display.
