oshimura R&D’s given riders shopping for a real performance exhaust a tough choice–or a really easy one, depending on the budget. On one hand there are the Yoshimura TRS Pro Series pipes, and they’re awesome, as well they should be. Yoshimura led the industry in bringing lightweight titanium pipes like this off-road. But then there’s the Yoshimura TRS Comp Series exhausts, stainless steel pipes using that same Yoshimura race-winning design and the same TRS tri-oval-style muffler, only here with a more economical option of aluminum and carbon fiber for the muffler. Tough choice, and no wrong answer.
The TRS Pro-Series full titanium systems (which include the header and mid-pipe) finish off with that exclusive Yoshimura TRS tri-oval-shaped muffler, and it’s offered in titanium, aluminum or carbon fiber. This is the system for the serious racer. These lightweight exhausts are constructed entirely with Grade 2 aerospace-quality seamless titanium, and everything is Tig welded. The tapered headpipes and tailpipes are CNC mandrel bent, and the whole system is extremely resistant to rust and corrosion. That titanium construction offers better heat dissipation too, and stainless steel heat shields are available for most applications. The TRS Pro Series full-titanium systems come standard with Yoshimura’s two-piece end cap and the easy-to-install TEC-SB sound insert to bring the decibel level down to 93-95db when required. The TRS Pro Series header now features a low-boy design, which not only improves performance throughout the powerband but also lowers the system’s center of gravity. This is an exhaust with all the bells and whistles, and the legendary Yoshimura performance to back it up.
Now, not every rider needs all those full-titanium features, or, quite frankly, has the budget for them. Yoshimura’s TRS Comp Series is the affordable alternative. The TRS Comp is patterned directly off the TRS Pro, but because it’s constructed of stainless steel instead of titanium it’s just a little bit heavier–and a whole lot less expensive. The TRS Comp is a full system with the header and mid-pipe fashioned from computerized mandrel bent 304L stainless steel. The system’s TRS tri-oval muffler is offered in aluminum or carbon fiber. The TRS Comp also comes with the trick stainless steel heat shield and comes standard with the Yoshimura two-piece end cap and the TEC-SB sound insert installed. The TRS Comp is genuine Yoshimura, at a rider-friendly price.
